That's not really the V6 that you want for the swap, I think the V6 in an MX-6 was a 1.8l, and what you ideally want is the 2.5l from a probegt/mx-6.

But you still would need some stuff out of the MX-3 aside from the crossmember.

hahaha, the v6 from the mx-3 is friggin weak, doesnt it have 130hp?

Yea somewhere around there... He'd probably be better of with the BP he has now.

Who knows, maybe it would be really good to boost??? I don't know anything about the 1.8l V6

Well a bp in an mx-3 with the stock tranny of the 1.6 win easily over the v6 mx-3

Umm, no it won't.

Fastest "stock" time for a MX-3, 16.0 (David Coleman)
Fastest "stock" time for a 1st gen Pro ~16.3 (varies)

1st gen pros have shorter gearing and weigh less than their MX-3 rivals...

Anyway, get a beater MX-3 v6, and use the parts along with an 900 dollar KLZE and get yourself 200 crank hp w/170 lb-ft....and run 14s all day long.

Jesse, is the tranny in the MX-3 V6 the same as the one used in the PGT and MX-6?

im glad you guys told me about the difference in the v6 from the mx3 and the mx6. but besides the engine, trans.ecu, and wire harness what else will i need for the mx6 v-6 swap? axles from ?, motor mounts from? crossmember? anything else am i forgetting. i would rather do this swap than turbo. any help, thanks

check out this site... perhaps if you contact them, they can be of some help to you:

www.a-spec.ca

They do the swaps in Ontario, I think.... But I don't think they ever check their e-mail :(

Oh yea, and I'd assume it would be the axles from the MX-3, unless the MX-6 axles are the same length... And I think you also need the front brake assemblies, from the MX-6 would be prefered (bigger rotors).

Turpro July-2nd-2003 06:26 PM

i know about that guy in ontario. i dont think i want to drive all the way there(seeing as i live in fla)to have him do it. thanks anyway. its not a bad price for all u get (engine,trans,ecu,harness,axles,crossmember,mx6 brakes and front suspension, and install)for 4300$. but like i said id rather do it myself.

thanks for the help gro. so thats the only engine mount i would have to change out? thats cool.

full MX3 ecu harness (probe/mx6 would probably work too)
can you shed some more light on this? how much customization needed?

right now, i am also doing the v6 swap in, i'm using the kf-ze engine with 170hp, well i just wanted to know if i could use the drive axles from the protege, i tried them into the tranny and they fit and move correctly, just a slight little wiggle if i wiggle them, any info on that thanx

Roberto Tschen September-20th-2004 01:08 AM

I'm doing a search for v6 swap, Where do get the KF-ze? how much do you pay and what includes? It is hard to install it? any info will be apreciated!! thanx
