Open Exhaust?

Would there be any gain of running the exhaust open from the headers?? Don't N/A cars need a certain amount of back pressure? I would only use it at the track because of how loud it is. It would definately be a lot less restrictive.

Yeah, im thinking that for track use only tho. It'd prolly free up only a few hp i bet tho. But hey every bit works.

You will lose low-end HP (and therefore torque), which is why the car felt sluggish. But you might gain a little on the top end. But it would be so loud as to hurt your concentration (be it drag racing or track racing).

This more extreme than the difference between a 2" and a 2.5" exhaust on an NA Pro.

When I had my exhaust cut right after the cat, it felt a lil sluggish in the low end but opened up in the top. After I got my 2.5" cat-back installed i re-gained that low end, and retained the extra oomph that was in the 4500+ range. Well at least in the seat of my pants dyno. NHow it sounds nice to.

why is 2.5 to big?? Everycar tat ive had minus turbo cars, ive had 2.5? on and it worked great. My power band is in the igher rpm's also. Andf i think .5" would make THAT big of a fifference. Maybe 2-3 hp lost at lower rpm, maybe 2-3 more gained in higher.

if you want more high end power and want to be louder than stock, cut off you re muffler or have a high flow one instead, replace you resonator with a stright pipe and you will be louder with a lil more top end

ok on that link, it talks about a hose with water and putting a fingrt iover it to create velocity. Then wouldnt a silencer have the same effect?? Bigger pipe would mean more exhaust, with a silencer on the end why wouldnt it increase velocity??
