HOLD button keeps blinking!
Yesterday when I started my car, I noticed that the HOLD button was flashing so I took it for a ride to see wat was wrong with it. When i put it in D it feels like its in L (that forced feeling) and then after 4 RPM it goes away and feels normal like in second gear. the light flashes continously and I already did a search on it and checked the TBS but this is what it says about "HOLD BUTTON FLASH"
-Water droplets from snow inside the fresh air duct may drip down onto and enter the PCME causing a short on the circuit board-Water droplets from snow inside the fresh air duct may drip down onto and enter the PCME causing a short on the circuit board. but I dun think that the short made the tanny do what it does. Do you have any ideas on what might be wrong with it?? |
Well I had the same problem, but it started doing it when I switched my auto tranny to a manual in my old car. I'm assuming that you didn't do this. I forgot what my dad did to make it go away... not sure what to tell ya.
|
That is the error code output for the tranny I believe, It was for my MX-6
|
just take it to the dealership and have them take a look at it. don't know what to tell you, sorry.
peace |
I can say one thing about this.....
POOF! YOU'RE FUCKED! Your tranny is about to go out. both times my tranny went out, that is what it did. Be prepared to pay out the ass, unless you can find a used one for cheap. P.S. Oh yeah, shouldn't it be: I still can't understand why people "Hook up" civics."? |
yes this guy knows what hes talking about my car did that right before the trany burned. oh yes what color is ur trany oil if its black with a nasty smell ur fucked i got my trany from a car 94 that burned good luck they are hard to find they run from 400-700 used w\o labor i got mine for 129 with all the cables but i pulled it out my self good luck
|
yea mine did that before it effed up totally two days later. mine was the same. black tranny oil. burnt smell.

The hold button flashing means that there's a code in the computer involving the transmission. To get to code connect a jumper wire between the ten and ground pin in the diagnostic box then call a mazda dealer and ask i'm what te number means. THe code will read has blink of the check engine light it will flash rapidly first count the number of time then there's going to be another serie of slower flash count them the first set his you first code number and the second set his the second one. And thewy are right about those transmission price a rebuild transmission for those are around 1400cdn at the shop. If you go with a scrap yard i would sugest letting them install it has they will give you a warranty but remember that and automatic tranny his not the same thing has a manual. A manual if it works when they install it and you are carefull it will always work but an auto may brake a few months later.

"- that means that the trany had problems ......codes dont make the trany feel forced on different gears. |
well, what that the problem, or was I wrong?

Thanks for the reply Chastan oh and by the way neowave i'm an up and down in a transmission shop near montreal so i guess i know transmission and the electronic that goes around it. The code may tell you if it's only a sensor that's defect and yes a sensor can cause the transmission to go wrong even if the clutch inside it are all correct.

Think about it, there are also solenoids in there too. The throttle position sensor and vehicle speed sensor will let the transmission know what point it should shift at. The 1-2 solenoid involves shifting from first to second... the 2-3 solenoid... etc. The lockup solenoid makes the torque converter lock up. Shift signal... well... dunno what the pulse generator does...
OBD II has to do with emissions  |

I think it might have soemthing to do with the speed sensor! CHeck it, My car recently started doing the exact same thing...... I have not taken it in yet, hopefully will get there today!

transmition fluid and solinoids are the two things that will make the hold light flash. Neowave is right about the obd II

HI The hold light has not acted up for weeks. yestrday i was heading out of town and as soon as I get in the car, it hapens again. So I did note that when I turn the car off. it stops until I get travelling down a hill. THEN its starts blinking again.
Weird I know. I stopped the car about 10 times yesterday and each time the HOLD light went off, and thencame back on, when I start travelling downhill. |
sounds like tranny fluid is low. just low enough that it's fine when level but the sensor in the back is exposed when going down hill. I'd say check your fluid level.
|
I checked the tranny fluid yesterday and it looks fine to me. How much fluid is supposed to be on the stick>? The car was running when i checked it. and the fluid was all over the lower portion of the stick.
Perhpas I'll take her in and get them to ceck it at the SStation. Becca |
