Good Winter tires ?
 

Hi all I am looking for good winter tires or good all season tires that would be good on snow and ice as well, whats the place to shop or look in wpg or websites ?

price vs performance is what I am looking for.

Pirelli Snowsport 210's. Got them at Sears in the US.

I've got pirellis too. I had Firestone source them for me. You could try to get them through Kal tire, Canadian tire, etc. Since winter is half over, try waiting another month or too, and you can try to get a deal on them.

I am looking in to them thanks, but quick question there does not seem to be alot of p195 50R16 selection , do you have to use that size of tire ? or would there be a compatible size you can use other then that ?

i have bridgestone blizzaks....they work got in the snow as long as you start out in second gear. Damn this is making me want to have summer come soon

i just got the best pair of winter tires i have ever had ever.. they are michalin artic alpin ... i absolutly love them.. ice snow anything i can drive through....... they are the best that i have seen .. GET THESE.. buy them at royal tire on regent and say i sent you...

Hi Guys michalin artic alpin at Candian tire are $ 82 each,

But they dont have any p195 50r16 Would 195 55-15 Work or compatible with 2003 p5 ? is there anything to be worried about with this setup ?

for tire size, use either to 195-50-16, or a size ot two smaller. Some people stick with stock tire size, only because steelies are fugly. If you go smaller, try 185-60-15. That is a much more common size.

I'm running the Arctic Alpins, and I agree they are fantastic! I've also heard great things about the Nokians. There's another Mazdaspeed in the city with them.

If you can get Arctic Alpins at Canadian Tire do so, no one can touch the price when they are on sale. Also, buy some steel wheels, too :).

Question for you guys... Winter tires should be chnaged after the weather warms up and you don't need the extra grip. Whats the difference between winter and summer tires anywyas?

Two main differences are tread design and compounds.

Winter tires have compounds that stay relatively soft when it get cold out, as well, these compounds are formulated to help adhere to ice better. Conversly, compounds used in summer tires get hard when the temperature drops, resulting in poor traction.

Winter tires have a lot of little sipes (grooves) that flex, which builds up resistance on slippery surface, which in turn result in better traction. Summer tires on the otherhand, have larger tread blocks that result in larger contact patches, which gives more the car more contact with the road.

Additionally, summer tires usually have lower profile, whereas winter tires usually have a higher profile.
