Funny Story (sort of)

So I got a car alarm for my car installed today while I was at work (finally). It wwas put in around noon, and I was working until 5. Just as I am leaving the store to walk around back for my car I am paged to Car Fi (the mobile department) I call up and the guy said someone busted my window. I laugh because they pull this shit on me all the time at work, and I just had it put in. I hadn't even gotten to see how it worked. But it does work. Some kids came up in the back lot and tried to boost it.

I'll set the scene for you as well for those who are not familiar with the back of my store. It is a back lane that goes all the way down to Future Shop (which is where they started looking for cars). Across the back lane is a body shop that always has an emergency door open to get air and the guys always go out for a smoke. Our install bay door was wide open and there were two installers inside, as well as two customers. These kids (who were already in a stolen Pony with another stolen cars licence plates) saw all of the people around and still thought they could get away with it. So they smashed the drivers side glass and the alarm went and they jumped about tree feet. Everybody from the Autoshop was outside in ten seconds and saw all three of the kids bolting for their car. One jumped in his Mustang and chased them down but they went over a cumb and into a gravel road that has pot holes the size of a car in it so he didn't dare follow (we all know what that can do to your car. They somehow managed to survive the bumps (although they nearly barrel-rolled) and took off.

So two to three hours after the alarm is put in my car is the target of a boost. Although I think it was because the install forgot to take my deck out and I think they were going for what they thought wasan easy grab. Cocky bastards though if they thought they could break glass within earshot of about twenty guys (plus is that I have ten witnesses). Well I was going to show it off this Sunday because I got all the cool toys with the alarm (remote for stereo, power window control, etc) but now I have to wait for Autopac until Monday next week and then God knows how long until I get it replaced. Another plus is that they did scratch the paint and so I might get my whole car redone if I can get a bit of a discount on the two panels that are scratched. (wanted to do it this summer anyways).

So if anyone sees a flat black Pony (hyundia or however you spell that crap car company) with only a back plate on it, call crime stoppers because they have boosted a few cars and there is probably a good reward for any tips.

Thanks

I'm still good... I got the killer plastic and duct tape window right now.....

The alarm is sensitive enough around the window that it goes off if you try and get through the plastic and I don't have anything inside the car right now anyway.

I work until 7:30 on Sunday so I don't think I can make it down on time to the meet but I am going to see if I can skip out early (since I work two seconds away from there)

Sounds good Mike.....maybe we could change the meet time for next meet. I believe that this will be our first nice sunday so we can cruise after hooters. I'll stick around for sure until you're done work. See you all on saturday

I did end up going cruising after Easter dinner (as did half the city). They kept the Polo Park parking lot open which could be an awesome spot if it stays like that....

Hard to see what other spots were out there. Too much mud and puddles to see if it is a good spot normally when dry.
