Wheel Question
 

My local dealer got the P5 I want in except it has the chrome wheels, which I don't like. They refused to switch them to the standard wheels. my question is: a friend wants to sell me his aftermarket wheels he bought for his Subaru WRX, will they fit the P5?

I dunno about the WRX (wouldn't those say Subaru) but man just let the dealer know that you don't want to pay for the rims. And that its a deal breaker. Maybe you can get those for free. Hell I'd trade you my stocks for the chrome stocks.

Your dealership must really suck. I was in the same situation when I bought my P5. I just didn't like the polished wheels compared to the brushed. But my dealership had no problems swithching them out. Even if that meant they wouldn't make as much money on the deal. I can't believe they would lose a customer over the wheels. I would go somewhere else. The wheels are just another option like anything else. It shouldn't be an issue. I had two other dealers tell me that switching out the wheels could easily be done.

They offered them to me for nothing, trading could be a possibility, but it would have to be with somebody close by with very low mileage on there wheels. I'll post if it comes to that.

Well I was like you and I told my dealer when we were picking out options that I did not like the polished. Wasn't an issue because the only yellow car they had with polished wheels was an auto. But now that I look back I like to look of polished when next to the yellow. I still would rather have powder coated yellow rims or maybe blue.

I am not happy with them, I am going to hit a few more dealers tomorrow. I could not believe they could not swap the wheels with another car and give them to someone who might want them. They said it has to be what it says on the sticker -load of crap! The problem here in Boston is that most of the cars are automatics and I am looking for a stick, so getting the color and options I want is tricky. I was in Tennessee last week on business, so I decided to look, the dealer was so nice and not pushy, I wanted to be his best friend. I felt bad that I was only browsing, he let me take it for a ride and everthing. I should have bought except it would have cost a bundle to get it home.

Yeah, I was also looking for a stick with certain options. I wanted the side air/abs package in either blue, silver, or black. got the blue one. I probably would have bought it even with the polished wheels since it was hard to find the color/options I wanted in a stick. Tempting to buy the one in Tenn that you saw but be patient. I'm sure you'll find one the way you want it locally. A few dealers told me that the options I wanted couldn't be found anywhere in the state or region. I couldn't believe that. So I found one on my own. It was 100 miles away but that's not too far. Keep looking!

Subaru WRX actually has the ideal fitment/offset that we require on the Protege5. The problem is the boltpattern. Tire size is incorrect though.

Subaru = 5x100mm
Mazda = 5x114.3mm

FYI. That's what you need to look at as well as offsets and widths of the wheels.
