weights on rims?
I got my rims a little while ago and I when I looked at them there were these tiny metal rectangle weights on all of them. Is there a purpose for these? I'm asking because when I took out one of the rims from the box, I found the weight inside the box not on the rim. Thanks

they are just stick on weights. I have had a couple pop off myself, next time you get the wheels balanced, they will put any on that have come off. Beats the old beating the huge weight on the outer edge of the new wheel trick:D

So then its alright that they fell off? Or should I get them rebalanced?

and when you get them rebalanced they will use double sided tape to hold the weights on. Really shitty and the things come flying off when the adhesive wears out. Yes i'm aware of centrifugal forces but they do stop when your car isn't moving!!
Anyhow you can grab some silicon adhesive and "caulk" the weights on. But be conservetive you don't want to unbalance the wheels with the silicon. Then the weights will stay on mad long. |
