Tramlining in a 2010 Mazda3 iTouring

I recently bought a 2010 Mazda3 sedan. Cheap but attractive new tires (Radar RPX800) were installed shortly before I bought it. The car tramlines on roads that have grooves running parallel to traffic. You can literally feel it lurching left and right as it gets "stuck" in the grooves. It drives fine over non-grooved roads. I've never experienced this in any other car (I'm 41 and have owned at least two dozen cars, probably more). I had to look it up just to find out what it's called.

Long story short - is this common in the Mazda3? Is it the tires? Anyone else experience tramlining?

I had the same issue with my civic and in my friend's mustang, it just boiled down to lousy roads.

No fwd car should pull you around like that. Have you looked at your alignment? Too much toe-out will make a car wander. Look at your front tires for uneven wear. :)
