Time for new tires???

I just noticed this today when washing my car. they didn't look like that when i rotated them 3k miles ago and its just the fronts. is this an alignment issue or just a tire issue. i was hoping to make it through the winter with these tires but should i replace them now. oh and these are the stock dunlops with 33k on them and they still have quite a bit of tread left.

Yes and yes. (get the tires and get an alignment at the same time.
I wouldn't recommend the stock tires again.

I would replace those weather cracked tires. They have served thier life and a set of tires will be alot cheaper than doing body work when one of them blow apart. get new tires... just my 2cents

I was thinking either Toyo Proxes 4 or Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S

macdaddyslomo October-17th-2005 08:33 AM

that's a tire issue....that's dry rot man !!! you been letting the car sit at all ???

Matty Mooling October-17th-2005 08:36 AM

nope the car never sits for more than a day. could the tire dressing be drying the tires out?

macdaddyslomo October-17th-2005 08:40 AM

naw...maybe just a bad tire....it happens

^ proxes = good tire (to me anyway) - dont know anything about the Pirelli's

I've heard good things about both of them. i think it'll come down to which is cheaper.

Mirada GTX...yokohama subsidary...well, they make the low-profile tires, not sure about stock sizes if that's what you're running.
Been good for me thus far...hopefully I can run them this weekend up in ATL at the AutoX...well, if I DO decide to run the wagon at all.

Matty Mooling October-17th-2005 11:26 AM

they're not all season are they?

JDM-P5 October-17th-2005 11:36 AM

Matt,
I'm not sure actually...they work great in wet weather though!!

Maybe give one of these places a buzz and inquire.
It's worth a shot atleast.

they don't have a 205/50/16 and they don't look to be much cheaper than the proxes or the neros. i think i'm going to go with the 195/50/16 proxes. they're 4.5 lbs a tire lighter than the 205/50/16 neros not to mention $30 a tire cheaper.

JDM-P5 October-17th-2005 01:06 PM

Word...I bought the 205/40/17's here in town for $60 a pop I think.
