Taking care of aftermarket wheels!
What do you guys do to protect your aftermarket wheels. I am pretty sure that nobody drives with them on during the winter.
Does rain and/or cold weather affect the polish on the rims ??? |
I have no idea about driving in winter, I live in central Tx. Rain and cold ( 20 F) have not affected my wheels. You need to be carefull with the type of cleaner you use, some cleaners can take the finish off.

does tire gel and other products for the tires ruin the finish ?
|
Read the label, The, Tire Wet, tire gel is pretty good. I have not seen any affect on the wheels, but I put it on pretty careful.

Armor all makes a wheel cleaning kit for under $20. It has Wheel+rim soap cleaner stuff and tire shine. jus try not to let the spray on tire shine hit the rims..it leaves spots...but u jus have to whipe them off!!\
I use armor all on my alloys...and gets them spotless:D :D |
On my 17" stock Racing Harts, I wash them with soap at every wash (yet they are still getting pitted!!!  ). At rotations (I try to do it ever oil change, but lets be real, every 2 oil changes), I clean the rims and give them a coat of wax. They are painted and deserve the same care :). I use a tire spray that keeps them beautiful for atleast a week. Just make sure you wipe the spray off of the rim if you get any on it.
Where does everybody get the tire gel? I want something like this instead... |
Wal-Mart, Pepboys, Auto Zone
