road or performance tires?
I've been doin' a little research and found that performance tires have a lower tread wear than road tires. I'm getting rims soon and i need to get tires for them since i'm upgrading from 14" to 17". So I was wondering, since i drive this car daily, what would be better?

Good road tires. The track tires are not the best for the road (and vice-versa!)...
I like the Yokahamas i put on (and re-tired with again). |
Thanks, but ech! I just checked them out and I hate the tire threads on those. Besides, I didn't find Yokahama AVID 205/45/16s on their site. The AVID TRZ comes in these sizes for 17":
P225/55R17 95T P225/60R17 98T but I'm lookin' at probably 205. These have a very high treadwear though, 700! |
I just looked at the HIGH PERFORMANCE tires and they seem to have better lookin' threads on them. That's why I wanted performance tires.
The AVID H4/V4 seems nice with a 500 treadwear rating. Not too bad since the NITTOs I have on now have a 480 rating and I've had them on for about 70,000KM and still goin' strong! Which AVID is it you have exactly? |
Uh 'H4' i think...

OK, those are cool. But I think I may put some michellin' on 'em! The Hydroedge to be exact. They have an 800 Treadwear on them!
