Rim bashing

I've made the decision to can my current appearance of my car. i once thought about cruisin' in my pro but now i want the racer look. How stupid do chrome rims look anyway? My car should be treated better but instead I mistreat it awfully. I don't do it justice. I think black rims or dark metal would look better. I'm sick of chrome! hard to keep looking "pretty" and heavy as hell! Stupid!!! :thumbs do

jster28 April-13th-2005 05:37 PM

i have 18" dark gun metal racing rims they look great on my blue nightblue protege

I have a set of lightweight rims with a polished aluminum lip on them. They look awsome however the aluminum is very hard to keep shiney. Much harder then chrome.

Saint-beast April-13th-2005 10:12 PM

Any pics of ur rims???

I've got silver 17 with the polished lip. Here's how they look. Chrome sucks... I hate chrome

TitaniumMSP April-14th-2005 05:58 PM

I dunno when I see chrome wheels I think pimp ride (Escalade, Tahoe, Lexus etc...) . I personally hate when someone puts chrome wheels on a sports car it just looks out of place now on the other side the 20" chrome wheels on the new Dodge Ram look sweet as hell....really depends on the car/truck/suv...

mazdabel April-14th-2005 07:34 PM

So it seems that i have three votes against chrome rims. Keep in mind i'm thinking about getting sports rims and forget about the mexican side in me that likes cruisin' on chrome!!

Pretty big picture you can see what an insane lip it is. IT reflects itsself! I need more of a side angle.

import_tuner19 April-15th-2005 08:07 PM

chrome sucks, get black with polished lip it looks sweet, or even gun metal, something dark and less flashy.

mazdabel April-15th-2005 09:12 PM

You know what? I've made my mind to make my car all-black. Not black rims, but darker like gunmetal or what import's talking about...pretty good feedback...I'll also lose the altezzas but not oem; i like the black jdm (i think they're called that)

zerocover April-16th-2005 10:15 AM

Tint the altezzas it looks awsome
Usually when you tint tail ligts you get alot of red through but if you tint altezzas its all black becuase you have a nice clear surface to tint.

Hi guys,

I just put my summer tires/rims on my car and thought I would share them with you. I think that I am somewhat partial to the chrome ones - they look fabulous on and especially when the car is in motion. Much better than the brushed alloys!

import_tuner19 April-16th-2005 07:03 PM

i like the look of black rims with a polished lip on a black car in motion, at night. The black dissapears and all you see is a silver ring suspended in air, it looks awesome or even the tenzo rims with the red ring and the black spokes. Its mostly personal choice and i personally dont like flashy things like chrome.

Yeah I like that! Summer rims alright. Especially cruising in the park; you know people are gawking! Something about chrome that makes people turn to notice...

import_tuner19 April-17th-2005 05:56 PM

:barf: yeah like why the hell did they get those but yours arent as gawdy as those people with escalades and crap with the huge shitty looking wheels

mazdabel April-17th-2005 07:33 PM

Well around here there is a high Mexican population and chrome seems to be favored. Especially where i live, there is a high percentage of chrome rims on all kinds of cars. Nearby New Braunfels is the same. But that's the point, right? Too much chrome, not enough originality. I wanna be an individual just like everyone else (hahahehe!)!?!?

import_tuner19 April-17th-2005 07:38 PM

yeah black or gunmetal will do that, even here we have a high mexican, black, and wigger population so chrome is abundant(as are my laughs, some thing about watching an escalade with 26's burn through brake pads while trying to slow down from racing me) Silver rims are also far too common so if you want to be an individual like my self(1) dress gothic (2) paint car black (havent gotten to that yet) (3) make the car as demonic as you can

mazdabel April-17th-2005 09:15 PM

Alright, I do like wearing black (but not gothic ;) ) and my car IS already black sooo I will probly make it all black w/gunmetal or darker rims for the night-look. HA!

Desiwoman April-18th-2005 01:54 AM

Kinda funny - I am up in B.C. (canada) and I rarely see chrome rims on the Mazda 3 (partly the reason why I got them - besides the fact that I think they look great!), and people are aways gawking at my rims (when it isn't bloody well raining and they are clean, that is!)

import_tuner19 April-18th-2005 09:58 PM

all right in your case chrome is unique but in mine its not ive seen p.o.s cars with chrome wheels and rust spots on the body, that is the most retarded thing ive ever seen :crook:

Desiwoman April-19th-2005 03:33 PM

Agreed, that would look awful!

mthegodfather April-19th-2005 04:01 PM

Chrome looks best on Trucks and Old Hot Rods. On compact cars I think it looks silly and it really hurts your performance.

mazdabel April-20th-2005 07:55 PM

Alot of the time especially around here most of those "POS" cars that get new rims (chrome) are like income tax wheels. mine aren't. i've also seen junky cars with enkeis, konigs and the like. it all depends on the individual. but what makes us happy is the key. every one to their own. I guess now I like newer cars w/showy rims as long as they're tasteful. Who really cares if someone else doesn't approve. in the meantime I'll be driving on chrome and I've never really heard any criticism to my face. Are they scared? Who knows. I have heard compliments though. I really don't need "respect" from anyone including this forum. I think it'd be nice to have all different types of pros with different rims on them. But then again thats my opinion and all I am is a noob. But a noob with some knowledge of what its like to be civil and considerate!

Desiwoman April-21st-2005 01:28 AM

Well said Mazdabel, I didn't know how to respond to mthegodfather after he bashed me having rims on my 3! As long as what you do to your car makes you happy, that is all that matters! That is my 2 cents, for whatever it's worth!

import_tuner19 May-8th-2005 02:27 PM

yes in the end it is what makes you happy i just got Black and silver 17" Konig reasons and the wiggers say why didnt you get dubs(i hate that word) and i just smile and say i think with my mind not 50 cent's mind.

T'is true. Only you can really decide for yourself what it is that you want.

I'm sure not everyone likes my 'show' wheels as much as me, but I just say :the finge and :booty: and sometimes give the :squint: face!

LOL
