Ride Quality for 17" or 18" wheels...

If anyone is running a P5 on 215/35/18x7.5's or 215/40/17x7's...
Could you tell me how your ride is. Mattjk is run'g the 18" set up & advises the ride is harsh to him. How is it for the rest of you? Would especially like to hear from Rishie. I saw a pic of a P5 run'g on 18" Volk LE37T's.

To all who take the time out of their busy schedule to respond
THANK YOU!!! .

I'm new to Import Tunning & want to spend my money wisely....

Again, Thanks in advance,
Chuck

Hey Chuck..I am running Federal 215/35/18s' on ADR 7.5 inch wide rims. The ride is harsher than factory, but you get use to it. Even though the ride might be harsher, the handling especially has been improved. I take curves a lot faster than I used to, and the look of the 18s sitting right at the fenders is hard to beat. Depending on how your roads are where you live, either tire setup will give you a harsher ride, but other things are improved. Hope this helps.:) http://www.mazdamp3.com/members/slam...e5/800x600.jpg

Thanks for responding...

I forgot include road noise. Is it bad? I also see you're running a Magnaflow muffler. Is it loud? I'm looking for performance, but don't want to be heard a mile away.

Thanks in advance,
Chuck

I upgraded my speakers to get rid of the road noise:D , but I thought my P5 had a good bit of road noise anyway with the factory wheels. The Magnaflow was not nearly loud enough when I had installed, just slightly louder than factory, so I removed the resonator and now it sounds really nice. I cannot stand loud, high pitched-popcorn machine sounding exhaust either, and this is not. It gets throaty sounding around 3000 rpms, then quites down around 5000. Hope this is helping:) http://www.mazdamp3.com/members/slam.../magnaflow.jpg It is nasty in this pic, but it always cleans up good.

Sure is thanks!!!

A few more ?'s. What offset are your rims? How far did you lower your P5? Last but not least... Are you running a CAI? If so which one?

Thanks in advance,
Chuck...

the ride quality definitely decreases, but i got used to it. road noise is a bit higher than stock, but then again, i'm running kumhos, so they might be adding to the road noise. bumps and road imperfections will be pronounced. steering, handling, and stability has increased, although tracking has increased and takes time getting used to.

i have no idea what offset my rims are. they are mille miglia 17" action sports. i have no issues with rubbing even with two people in the back. the car is a little cramped for three people, and i don't have that many friends, so i can't say if three people would cause rubbing.

i lowered my p5 with eibachs. it's about 1.5 inches lowered in the front and about the same in the back. the wheel gap is the same front and back, so the back isn't as lowered as the front, but it still looks really good.

i'm running the injen cai. besides the filter falling off once, i have not had a problem with it. make sure you tighten that bad boy nice and good and you won't have a problem. throttle response has increased, but after adding the heavier rims, it's not as responsive as with stockies. hydrolock hasn't been a problem and i live in tucson where there are flash floods. just don't think your car is a humvee and you'll be fine.

Hello,
I've got my car lowered on Ground Control's. I want to get rims and was wondering if 17x8's will fit in the back. I'm planning on getting 17x7.5 in the front too. Thanks!

I don't have a 3rd Gen, but with my springs, struts, and 17s (205/40/17) on my 323, the ride is H A R S H!
