Q: Stock wheel weight

Would anyone know what our stock alloys weigh?
I have 16" 2002 Protege ES alloys.

I'm planning to lighten my car by replacing with wheels which are comparably lighter.

Any insight will be much appreciated.

SAME Question for 95 ES?

I was just going to post this b/c I am looking for lighter wheels than my 14" ES Stockers.

Anyone know how much stock alloys weigh for 95 ES? I should have weighed them when I got my new cheapass Kumhos last weekend but didn't think about it. I want to get 16's by the end of the summer.

It has been posted before .. not sure if it has been added to the FAQ yet.

From what I can remember, the 16" alloys with tires on weigh in at about 35 lbs.

Dunlop's website says the tires are about 20 lbs which would leave somewhere around 15lbs for the rims. Which isn't at all bad.

Hope you have deep pockets if you want to go "considerably lighter" than 15 lbs :)

hmm, with that in mind, would an 18' wheel wieghing in around 22-23 pounds greatly affect performance. Im thinking this might be an issue do to the lack of power on our proteges, especially the P5. what do you guys think?

22-16=6

6x4=24

24 lbs is quite heavy.

<tongue in cheek> So if girlfriend sitting with the driver is 120 lbs then adding 24 lbs is analogous to having a fat girlfriend with the driver. Slow anyone down.</tongue in cheek>
