New tires for stock wheels on P5.
How are your stock SP5000 doing on your P5?
Did anyone change them to any other tires yet? I'm thinking about puting 205/50 16" on stock wheels after my SP5000 will be worn out. Did anyone tried it yet, if so how do you like it? It may take a little away form the acceleration and steering quickness but should improve car's stability and handling mostly at highway speeds (70 mph and above). What do you think? |
I like my Sp5000ms...not a bad stock sneaker at all. I only drive my P5 at 7 or 8/10ths, so I've never really pushed them.
I did get the Sp5000 Asymmetricals for my Miata, mainly because the Pilot SX/GTs that came with it sucked in rain, had no snow capability and in the dry I had a tough time predicting their break-way. These break predictably and are smoother than the Pilots. My only complaint is that the sidewall is a lot less stiff than the Pilots or Proxes or AVS tires I've had before...and therefore turn-in is a little compromised. All in all I don't know of too many other good choices for a good performance tire that can actually get you home safely in the snow. [soapbox]Never try to "get through" cold months without an all season tire. If you want something Ultra-High Performance, you gotta get steelies and Blizzaks for sub-40 temps and swap 'em out when it's time. Otherwise, you're an accident waiting to happen. I'd swear my Miata would have slid sideways into a pole if I had tried to start it in cold weather in my T1s...[/soapbox] --Dean |
