Need new tires to replace OEM Dunlops, whats recommended?

I live in Louisiana, so it never snows here (if it does, im staying home).

Can someone recommend some decent tires to replace the Dunlops. Ive hated the Dunlops since I bought the car, they suck in the rain (and it rains alot here).

Today I was driving, and heard something slapping under the car. I stopped, and part of my right-front tire was torn. It didnt blow, but I saw the mesh underneath.

Anyone know if this is covered under warranty? Like I said, I dont like the OEM tires, so Ill most likely buy new tires anyway, just curious.

I have a set of Toyo Proxes TPT's on mine. They are great in the dry and the rain. Deffinately better than the Dunlops. They have the same speed rating and come in the 195/50/16 size also. Not sure how they perform in the snow yet but the tread pattern looks better than the Dunlops so I think they will be ok this winter.

I like my Yokohamas. I got the 205/50/16 which filled the wheelwell better than the Dunlops. Only added 0.4" in total height plus 0.4" additional width. Bonus was it only changed the speedometer by 1 mph.

I don't know if the 195 sizes are easier to find in Louisiana than in Texas. Thats why I went with the 205 size.

Good Luck,

Where did you buy your tires from?

How much?

Tirerack.com has some Kumho for $69

And some for $69 with a 30k warranty

and some for $64$64 with only a First 2/32" of wear warranty.

Both seem like good reviews.

Im trying to get an idea how much I should spend. Thanks.

BTW, i was also looking at wheels. I like these, Mille Miglia HT3 . I have a Yellow P5, so I think these would look great.

What I wanted to know is, if I decide to go with 17", will these fit? What do I have to make sure of for fit?

Some go to a 205/45-16. A bit wider, but same overall diameter. Not all tires come in that size though.

I got the Yokohamas from Discount Tire for under $500 installed with all the warranties. As far as tire and rim fitments, go to http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...&threadid=6325 for all needs.

Good luck,
