or should i got with something like Toyo T1-S?

I have T1-Ss on my Miata and they're great tires. For 59 bucks apiece, they can't be beat!

That's the exact page I saw them on. just wanted some opinions :)
I will probably go w/ these (they are MUCH cheaper). Going to get some 16 or 17" rims anyway, which equals new wheels (will move these rims/tires to my '92 protege.

The Goodyears are excellent tires, but pricey. If I was using your credit card I'd get some, but since I have to use my own money, there are better buys for the money, such as the Toyo's

Jackelope December-13th-2004 04:23 PM

I think i'm leaning toward the Toyo's - Seem to be of the same quality, just way cheaper $59 vs $89/piece

Jackelope December-13th-2004 04:28 PM

Here's the deal/problem:
Toyo - $339.94 to my door + ~$40 mount/balance
Goodyear - $400 - mounted/balanced (from a friend who cant get Toyos)

so... like $20 difference... leaning back to goodyear.

Jackelope December-14th-2004 07:43 AM

apparently I picked the wrong tire size when getting the price.. should be...
$325 (mounted/balanced for toyos) vs $400 (mounted/balanced for goodyears)

I have these on my Miata in 195/50-15. They're awesome tires. Quiet, smooth ride with lots of grip and they're the best rain tire I've used. Not the cheapest but I'd definitely buy another set when these need replacement.
They are absolutely not an all season tire so if you're going to be anywhere near snow, you will need snow tires. This also goes for the Toyos.

It snows here, maybe 1 or 2 times a year (if we are lucky). Usually an ice storm or 2 are thrown in for good measure. If it snows/ices, i'll just drive my toyota p/u or my '92 pro :)
I ordered the Goodyears yesterday - $400 for the set, $50 less than walmart, and i know the guy doing it, and he has been VERY good w/ after sale service. free rotation for life of tire, etc.
