Best all around tire
 

Anyone have a suggestion for all season and still have good handling. My 2k ES has the originals with 38k on them.

Many people are happy with their Falken Ziex 512 tires. There aren't many choices in 195/55-15 hi-performance all season tires.

The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S is pretty close to the perfect one-tire-does-it-all. Great dry (0.92g in Tire Rack's test) and wet grip, quiet, smooth-riding, fairly long wearing and even works better than most all-seasons in the snow. Admittedly, they aren't Azenis in the dry, but then again they offer more performance than you can use on the street.

Of course, they start near $200, and aren't available in smaller sizes

FWIW, I will probably get these for my '02 Altima when the stock tires wear out (assuming there isn't something better by then).

don't know anything about tire wear, and unfortunately they don't make any in the correct size for stock P5 rims.

For 195/55/15 sizes, if you really want to stick to an all season tire, you could also add to your list:

- for a summer-biased tire: Toyo Proxes TPT, V rated, UTQG 400
- for a winter-biased tire: Nokian WR, H rated, UTQG 420, with rim-protector

Additionnal info: the Toyo proxes TPT are also available in 195/50/16 for the P5

the continentals don't run in size 195-55-15 as on my Pro. Is it ok to go to 205?

Falken!!!!

Why the Falkens? Have you actually driven them in Winter?

I drove on 215/40/17's of the contiExtreme last Winter and was really suprised how good they were. Obviously they can't touch a real snow tire but they were surprisingly good, better than I expected, and I didn't regret giving up snows for them.

Just a little word about 205/55/15 tires: I have tried a set of 205/55/15 BFG on my ES in april and I didn't like them at all. Power was down significantly (passing another car was very dangerous) and breaking distances were much longer with these tires. Of course, they were just 'Grand touring' tires and the Conti seems to be sportier tires, so maybe it will not be the same with the Conti...

I'm not an expert but I think that the 205/55/15 BFG were just too heavy for my car (the 195/55/15 RE-92 are 19 lbs and I' pretty sure that my BFG were heavier). Is there someone here who can explain to what extent a heavier tire can affect the handling of a car? Maybe I'm just wrong on this after all ...
