+42 with 215's
 

I just received a set of wheels from a mail order company. Unfortunately they sent me the wrong wheels. Now I am desperate for a set of wheels (as the old ones have worn to the steel belting).

The wheels I ordered were 17x7 with a +45 offset and 215/45/17 Nanking NS1 tires. What I got was a 17x7 with a +42 offset and 215/45/17 Nanking NS1. They are also the wrong color, but I can live with that.

I know the fitment guide says I need a +45, which is why I ordered them in that offset.

Is anyone running this tire size and offset? Are you having major tire rub, or just occasional? My wife's 02 P5 is totally stock. We will be doing some serious distance this summer with very little sporty driving (my lifted Jeep sees faster corners).

Call a tire shop, and ask for the offset range that is acceptable for the P5. When I sold my OEM wheels to a friend to put on an MX-6, I just called up Belle Tire and asked if they would work. They were more than happy to tell me what range they used to determine if a certain wheel would work for the MX-6. What they didn't give me, was a dead-nuts accurate number.

Make that 215/40/17 Nanking NS1 are the tires I recieved.

The place I ordered from is a tuner shop that seals mainly with wheels and tires. They are telling me that this tire and rim combo will work, but I am hesitant to put them on, seeing as how I have been screwed over by tire shops not knowing anything in the past. Also I have read the fitment guide which is making me think they won't work at all.

It'll work fine if you're at stock ride height. If it's lowered a lot I might worry a little, but it should be no problem.

Better to go with a +48 offset on a 215 tire. Even lower with the MSp springs it will not rub.

Well, call around then. Get two or three opinions.

You risk having rubbing problems with that combo. If your car is lowered, or you plan on lowering it in the future, you will definitly have problems.

Nope, no intentions of doing any lowering. No suspension improvements at all. Just keeping everything stock except wheels of course.
