18's on a Protege5

Is anyone using or seen 18 inch wheels on a Protege5(2002). I'm just about to buy some new wheels and really had my heart set on 18's. Can anyone tell me what they think about 18's on a Protege5?. Does it work, and also what size wheels are best.

Hey im also looking to purchase rims my question is does anyone know if 7.5 is the widest we can go on the 02' MP5. The other problem is that i want to stick with 16" wheels so that i still have some tire. Any suggestions or comments?

The Laguna Seca Protege5 pace car used to have 18" OZ F1-Cup wheels on it but the offset was a bit too low to fit properly (only +35 I think) but they did fit.

I believe you're speaking of the Vehicle ran by Joe Jordan at Laguna a year or so ago. Sean actually hooked him up with those wheels and they were not a good fit. There were fender mods needed. We are familiar with that car. It was kind of a last minute deal. I believe they were 8" wide also.

However, stick with the formula and you won't go wrong. As for max width it would be 7.5" wide. I couldn't even fit a 225/35 in the rear without a rub on an Advan Model V 18,7.5 +50 offset.

Be safe and be sure of what you may be interested in.

18's can be run it's just finding a set you like in your budget that are the right offset. It's pretty hard to find 18's as you're limited to a 215/35/18 for the most part.
