17" Rims - Sedan

Hi Guys,

I know this topic has been beaten to death and I have searched but I was considering buying some used Eagle Alloy - Series 160 rims but the offset is +38mm (pretty sure we need +40 but people have gone lower). I think the tires are Kumho Ecsta's 205/40/17.

I have a 2000 Mazda Protege and am worried that the offset is too low and that they will rub.

BTW, the car is not lowered and there are no immediate plans to do so.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

I was running Eagle Alloys Series 191 for some time. Dropped on an Eibach kit as well.

Offset was listed as +38. No rubbing issues ever. Not even with three people aboard with me.

I have 17X7 inch Racing Hart with a +37 offset...car is lowered 1.3 inches and no rubbin issues at all.

lol. What a coincidence. Yours was the one I seen that made me want that style of rim. And we both posted in this thread :D

Thanks for the quick and helpfull responses guys!

I think I should see about getting those rims then.

If anyone else wants to add any opinions/experiences please do so.

Do you guys think the rims will look OK on my Protege even when it's not lowered? I have the stock 15" 5 spoke alloys right now (you can see the pics from the summer by clicking my WWW).

Thanks,

Jon
