Tinting's done!

Thanks for pointing me to Euro Auto Tint, Richard!

I actually went with a friend of mine who wanted to tint his neon as well, so your referall to me got them 2 customers! :D

Peter and his boys did a fantastic job on the tint. Wound up getting 35 on the back sides and moonroof, 23 for the rear window and front eyebrow.

Didn't do the driver or passenger windows like I was originally planning on. The voice of reason (my fiancee) snapped me out of my delusion that I wouldn't get caught... :)

Only thing I'm concerned with is the guys managed to trap a small hair and a couple bits that look like breadcrumbs or something under the tint on the eyebrow. I think I'm gonna call them and get them to redo it. If you're not looking for it, you don't really see it, but since I know it's there, I see it all the time.. :(

If it doesn't rain and I can wash my ride, I'll post some pics after the weekend!

Next month I hope to get the rock gard done!

What do you mean by eyebrow? On the windshield?

How much did it end up costing you?

Glad you are happy with it! I love mine and now everything looks flawless!

Yeah - that's what the guy at the tint shop called it.. the band that goes across the windshield. I thought it was a cool name to call it so it stuck. My fiancee wasn't too crazy about anything going on the windshield cuz she liked the 'openness' of having nothing on it, but I think it looks tight and I like the fact I won't be going blind when the sun's going down! :D

After tax it cost me 299 and change. Saved about 50 bucks by not doing the driver and passenger windows.

What kind of tint did you end up using (ie who makes it? 3M? Llumar, etc?)?

I thought that was what you meant, but you could have been talking about the head lights. :)

So that price is pretty close to what it cost me to get mine done. Cool.

What color is your car?

As the sig says, midnight blue

and tint brand - He used the non-reflective metallized solargard. I don't know why mazdaspeedwest was complaining about solargard, the guys at the tint shop swears by it, and he showed me samples that had been on windows for 6 years and there was absolutely no discoloring or fading or anything.

It's guaranteed not to crack, peel or bubble for life and is warranteed for 3 years..

Just for your info.

I got my car done a couple weeks ago at Supertint. They used Llumar Centaur film (lifetime warranty). I have all 9 windows tinted (15% and 35%), and the cost was $341 incl GST.

They did a really nice job. I was a little concerned at first since there was a 'haze' on all the windows and several places where there were bubbles. After about a week (and a couple of HOT days) everything cleared up and now looks perfect.

I'd recommend them.

Jay

PS-Don't mean to hijack the thread :)

I called an installer that does 3M tint. The 3M stuff is lifetime guaranteed against fading, bubbling, peeling, etc. $255 for the rear and rear sides, and $305 for all the windows except the windshield.

Only problem is that they aren't taking new customers, and they said they'd do it for me but are now booking into June.

As long as you don't run it into a building, it's all good!! :D

What 'hot' days are you talking about??? Do you live in a different Edmonton than I do?? ;)

This weather has 2 weeks to improve.. I have a golf tourney to go to on the 8th so it better be nice out dammit!!

I guess what it all boils down to is if you get it done professionally, it'll look good, regardless of brand. (as long as it won't turn purple on you in a year)

Well there was a day or two that got above 20. Right now the weather blows goats. I actually got a bit of a sunburn on monday (washing my car) :)

This weekend is no good for me, but we should get the Edmonton Protege geeks together sometime.

Oh yeah.. that was our summer! I remember now. Now we're in the season affecionatly known as 'Construction' after which we'll give fall a miss and head straight into winter.

Well, if this stupid ass wind dies down we'd have some decent weather. It feels like i'm in Calgary or Airdrie with this wind all the time!
