this was my first time in seattle/bumbershoot though i've spent a lot of time in oregon/washington in the past.

bumbershoot was great. had a blast. everclear sucked. emm gryner rocked (my friend got her setlist autographed). gene at the skychurch was great and i got an autographed setlist from that show. jewel was ok until the yodelling. ani difranco was predictable. some of the art was quite interesting if not exactly my thing.

saw this one band called kultur shock. freaky. like ska, eastern european rap-metal. strange.

had fun driving there too. I-90 coming into seattle was fun and i wasn't even driving. my girlfriend was blasting through there at about 85mph. i drove it coming home but it was the middle of the night and pissing rain so i had to take it easy.

one nasty stone chip in my hood though. wiper blade saved the windshield.

It was my first time in Seattle, so most of our time was spent sight seeing and taking pictures, what a great city!!

Bumbershoot was good, we had a hotel about a block away so it was convenient to walk over and check it out. We saw Ani (very predictable), and some of the short films playing at the Intiman. The highlight for me was seeing a film called "The Freak" (a short computer animated film done by one guy) and getting to meet the guy who made it. I got a poster and a picture with the guy (so I can brag to all of my friends in the industry). My girlfriend wanted to check out Unwritten Law, but they cancelled.

It was a good trip, lots of driving (made easier with a the new car) and good weather. No problems with the car and no cracked windows or rock chips. Only wish we had more time to spend in Seattle.

Already talking about going again next year, can't wait :D

unwritten law had to cancel b/c their guitarist was injured in a domestic dispute. his neighbour actually tried to kill him with a homemade bomb over noise levels. crazy.

Ya, we tried to take it across the border and claim it as a souvenier but they didn't go for it...

I think they smelled something fishey ;)

*groan*

Hey, which way do you guys go through WA? Next time you come down you should swing through Spokane if you are on I-90 anyway.

I wanted to go down that way, but we went down through Sumas to save time. We also wanted to travel through the Okanagan. I grew up in Sicamous so we stayed a night there. Great driving in that area, lots of windy roads to speed down. Next year if we have more time we'll take the I-90 for sure.
