Pure White or Silver?

Hey everyone! This is my first post in this forum and I'll start by saying I don't own a P5 yet but I will in the summer.

There's just one problem.. I can't decide on the color! I've narrowed it down to pure white or silver. Just wanted to get other people's opinion. What do you think? Silver is nice but all I see are silver one's in Vancouver and a few yellows. I've noticed that not too many people have white in this forum? What's with that? :) Yeah I know the white hasn't come to Canada yet but what about the States?

Thanks for your input.

Greddy917 March-30th-2002 06:38 PM

Of course Im gonna say Pure White...so there :D

Oh and welcome to the board.

ToBeBackDoc March-30th-2002 08:31 PM

I went through the same thing but I was leaning towards the Pure White the whole time. I found out that there aren't that many white one's out there. I had to go 2 1/2 hours and to another state to get mine...but I'm really glad I got it.

Renesis5 March-30th-2002 10:41 PM

Thanks for the help guys.. yeah I think I'm gonna go for the white now.. yellow is too eye catching and silver is too common...

I went to the dealers here in Vancouver and they said the white won't be in for another 3-4 months.. but they already have them in Alberta? aww man... oh well.. gotta save up anyways so waiting won't be a big problem.

Renesis5 March-31st-2002 01:14 PM

Actually, the guy at Signature Mazda said the White will begin production in May and will be shipped sometime in June or July. He didn't say anything about back orders.. wierd.. Seems like every other city has white already.

KrisA April-1st-2002 08:48 AM

Regina Mazda has a pure white 5 sitting on the lot. In their infinite wisdom they decided to add yellow seat covers and "bling-bling" gold wiper blades!!!!! :barf:

Other than that it is a sweet little ride... I'm biased though, my ES is pure white! Go for the white, it's classy.

sunbyrne April-1st-2002 10:47 AM

Of course I'm going to say Silver, but I must chime in here--the only color that I absolutely would not have gotten is the white. I don't like the white with all the black trim and roof rack and such (less of a problem in Canada, though). Just MHO, though.

badboyeee April-1st-2002 09:16 PM

go with white! theres too many silvers like mine! ugh if i should have known how many silvers were out there

That's what I thought at first but actually there isn't a lot of black trim.. it looks kinda sweet.. did you check out jking's pro5?

http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...ght=pure+white

The only thing I don't like is the roof rack which I don't have to worry about cuz they don't have it in Canada.

I also found some pics of a white pro with an MP3 steering wheel.. the one with white trims on the side.. looks kinda cool. Can't remember the link though.

sunbyrne April-2nd-2002 12:12 AM

Yep, I've seen it. I dunno, I guess I just don't like white cars. The fact that both my parents drive white cars may have something to do with that...

Fulminatus April-2nd-2002 04:12 PM

Someone said that they saw the white P5 at Sig Mazda. I didn't see it myself.

But in Vancouver, there are a lot of yellows. =)

Renesis5 April-3rd-2002 09:03 PM

Does anyone have more pics of white?

skyhawk174 April-3rd-2002 10:12 PM

White P5?

Hi there

I am new to this forum and thought I would get in on this colour discussion. I just bought a vivid yellow P5 and at the moment I am waiting for it. It is still at the dealership getting the last of the options installed. I was supposed to pick up today but it was delayed which is not a problem since I did not want them to rush the job and botch it up. Anyway as to the colour white or silver, I think the silver one looks good if that is the choices you were going with. It is funny that I was not able to see any of the P5s in white. I went to every Mazda dealer here in Edmonton and not one had a white P5 in stock. They barely had yellow for that matter. Lots of reds, silvers, blues and blacks.

I can hardly wait for mine.

Cheers
Chris

ToBeBackDoc April-3rd-2002 11:08 PM

Renesis5, click my WWW and check my homepage under my profile. It's all stock except for the stereo.

My yellow P5

Hi Richard

I got it from the dealer in Leduc. Quite a difference in prices on the options but I think we got a good deal. As for the white ones at Weber, when I was looking there it was around a month ago so maybe they had some come in? BTW did you see that upgraded yellow P5 in the showroom at Weber? It had full leather seats (heated), new rims and low profile tires, some striping but other than that pretty much standard. The leather was interesting in that it had some yellow piping on the black as well as Protege 5 embroidered across the headrest. Was not too crazy with that as it looked a little too much.

cheers
Chris

paulf April-4th-2002 08:08 PM

i'm biased. White for me was always a bitch to keep clean.
Silver hides the dirty better LOL

sandman April-5th-2002 05:55 PM

Welcome to the boards Chris!

Glad to see another face from Edmonton piping up!

skyhawk174 April-5th-2002 06:28 PM

Thanks Sandman. Sure is nice to see all the enthusiasts on the boards.

It must be a bug with the P5 but I want to do some mods to it already. I think I have the right thing to do though. When I had it out last night after its first drive, my foot slipped off of the clutch so I think my first investment will be some new pedal covers with more agressive grips. I'll see what is available in the shops.

Also found out something interesting last night. A firend of ours also has a new P5 and he had heated leather seats installed. However his is slightly different from my set in that I have heat up the seat back and the bum whereas he only has a bum warmer. Hmmm, must be where the dealer gets his installed. Love mine though.

Cheers
Chris

I drive a red one, and to me it's the only color I like. However, I work at a Mazda dealer, and I would really prefer the silver. If you've ever seen the silver close up, when it's clean, it's like no other. I really admire sunbyrne's car and the way it shines.

Just my $0.02

I agree with Richard. They're cool looking, but WAY to rice for my liking.

jplegere April-6th-2002 03:43 PM

Hey I just purchased a 2002 MP5 Yellow with tinted windows, moon roof and bug deflector:cool: . I like the silver one but there are too many silver cars these days. I didn't even know you could get a white MP5...or a white mazda for that matter.

Where I got mine the only colors available were blue, red, black, sivler, and I was lucky enough to get a yellow one. I would go with the white!

Renesis5 April-6th-2002 04:34 PM

Check out the mazda.ca website... they have the white on there now... they didn't last year

Just curious but does the canadian version of the pro5 already come with tinted windows? It just seems like the glass is darker than the american ones.

craigrrrp April-6th-2002 07:43 PM

yea they gave me that tint on my emerald mica pro and it looks good!!

I never noticed that! Now i'm gonna have to try this out when I go outside today! :)

Hi Richard

I did not think my windows had a tint but then again I can only check the front ones as all my rear windows are tinted. I'll have to try that paper trick. As far as I know it is not stock here in Canada but an option.

As for those pedals, I think I agree with you. I finally figured out what your little smiley was doing. I saw another set with pretty much no colour but lots of grip.

Cheers.
Chris

sandman April-8th-2002 12:46 PM

yup - my windows have no green tint either..

but soon they'll have a nice dark tint on them anyway!!! :D

PRO5YELLOW April-8th-2002 02:23 PM

Re:

If u are not geeting the yellow 1, then go grab the white 1!!!!
I agree silver is nice too, but's too common.....not only the pro5 but any others!!!

Fulminatus April-8th-2002 06:02 PM

Weird, I thought the tint was stock.

It's meant for keeping heat out supposedly.

But the tint ( i think it is the tint at least) is polarized! =) =). You can see it pretty easily when u put on some polarized shades. It's on all but the windshield.

A lot of cars have them. I thought it was sort of like a standard thing that every car get started from a few years ago.

Makaveli April-9th-2002 12:55 AM

I got the greenish tint...... don't think that it's on every window though, but I'm pretty sure that it's on the front two

Renesis5 April-9th-2002 09:08 AM

I asked the dealers here and they said the tint was stock. All the pro5s on the lot were all tinted too. It's not dark but it's better than nothing.

SPACE~ACE June-25th-2002 07:56 AM

I know silver is common, but it is what you do to personalize it that will make it uncommon - Sorry 'bout being biased
