How about explaining what the heck a 'door sill' is, pictures are good. (last time I check everything came with a door sill, but maybe I'm thinking of the wrong thing.

stainless steel ones that go over the plastic ones in the door jamb. mine just say 'protege 5'. maxx mazda has ones with an indiglo logo.

just dress up. but they do look nice. go well with the silver trim in the car and my shift knob etc.

pics here from kramer's site.

b&m short shifter

Im in for the Door Sills Pr5owner if you can get the deal to go through. The shortshifter is nice, but its sticky. It takes some getting used to.

sticky as in notchier or sticky as in more missed shifts?

by the way, your car appears to kick ass.

pr5owner - The ad from Kramer says the door sills are $149 installed - why did you say regular $250? Do you mean the indiglo ones?

Are the door sills really heavy? Perhaps I can post on toprotege.com to see if they are interested & carry with me when I go back for the holidays. That should get the number of people up.

protege52nr - I got the TWM short shift & they are not that sticky compared with stock. (The stocks are pretty bad to start with, esp. in lower gears.) I have not got the synthetic tranny oil yet, but many people told me that helps a lot. Also, there may be adjustments required - my mechanic has to make the hole on one of the parts larger to make it not 'sticky'.

Thanks Orange, I got my B&M installed at North Hill, so I think I will go have a chat with them. Its really really bad in first gear or in reverse. Ive already got new tranny oil from MOTUL. Its helped a little bit, but not drastically.

pr5owner Dec 14, 2002 01:12 AM

rev is always kinda hard to get into since there are no syncro's. and my first gear always goes half in and won't go any farther, i have to go back to N clutch/unclutch and try again... i have switched out my tranny fluid to MT90

yeah i ment the EL ones (electro luminecient or something). the sills aren't really heavy.. but they look really nice!

oh and also the guy working @ kramer is trying to get real HID conversion kits but they are pricey (as always, doesn't matter where you go) i think they will be around 650-750 bux

YellowMP5 Dec 14, 2002 10:41 AM

hey guys, i am in florida but i would be in on the door sills. have not decided yet on the plain or the ones with e.l. I think i would just paypal the money to one of you (including shipping to florida) and when you get the sills you ship them down to me. if the price is $200 canadian for the e.l ones and $100 for the plain ones then i am definetly IN. I think they should give us a discount since we are buying an item only (and not the installation) so no point in paying for the installation. thanks.
