An ex Miata owner and now a P5 owner

Well, I just sold my 93 Miata LE :( but am now a P5 owner :) . I hope that it will be as good a car as the Miata. I know that there are complaints about lack of power in the P5 but they said the same about the Miata when it came out and it was still a hoot to drive. I'm hoping the same is true here. It will take a little time to get used to the P5. Anyway, just thought I would introduce myself and also say hi to Richard D, a name I recognize from Miata.net and Wild Rose Miata Club. Once the pain of feeling fleeced by the dealer goes away:mad: , I think I will be happier!

Welcome to the board magnus74. I guess when you think about it most of us are also pretty new P5 owners since it is such a new vehicle compared to the Miata. Always did like that vehicle when it was released but at the time could not swing it. Oh well. At least now I have my P5.

Welcome again.

Cheers
Chris

Hi right back at you!

Where, how much, and most improtantly, why did you sell your 1993 LE Miata? That is a very rare car...hope that you got a good amount for it...and where is it now - at a dealership?

Most definitely not at a dealer! I sold it privately for $12700- it was in good shape w/ 150000 kms. Everything was there except for the key fob. It pained me deeply to sell the car, knowing how rare it was and how much I loved to drive it. There really is no other M1 like it. The only other Miata that I like almost as much is the new SE. I had to sell it as it was my only car, and with my wife getting heavily into triathlon, it was getting hard to haul stuff around. With an LE I didn't want to start adding bike racks etc on. I sold it to a guy in Calgary here who used to be a very active member of the Miata club- ex-prez I think. It is in good hands. Having gone back to uni to get my masters, I will have to wait to get another Miata for a couple of years, but there will be another.

As to where I bought the P5, it was Sunridge, for $22300+tax. Not an outstanding price by any means: about $1000 over invoice I believe, for a 5spd, air, moonroof. It was a bit of a scene getting rid of the Miata to the new owner and trying to get a new car in the same day.

Congrats on the new purchase! What colour is your P5? You should post some pics! BTW, welcome to the Club! :D

Is there any other colour than black;) . I haven't cleaned the car yet- I told the dealer not to touch it inside or out, so it still had the plastic on it, but it will loook great. I am getting the windows tinted right away too. I'll get some pictures up soon.
