What are you looking to get done?

Basic alarm, remote start, and windows and locks control....for the time being. Do you have better suggestion than Compustar?

I thought compustar changed their name to Arctic Start. A buddy of mine has an arctic start system, and on the pager on the back it says "compustar."

Hmm...

Mine is a Compustar. I got it done @ Alarmtec in Calgary on 12th St.

How much should I expect to pay with installation? Are there different options that'll affect the final price? What about the few basic ones that I'd mentioned?

i got mine installed at Select Auto. they're a newer company (December) but they did what I consider to be an excellent job on the install - soldering all connections and cleaning up everthing properly when done. my compustar (i went with the FM not the SS) did have an issue after the first month that they quickly diagnosed as a faulty antenna and repaced it immediately under warranty.

i believe their price is $450+gst, installed.

i don't have their number handy but you can get it through 411 - they're on 52 Street near Peigan Trail (Erinwoods?)

and to edit... I have a Protege5, standard and didn't get the 'knock here to page the owner' installed. setting the compustar so you can start it is easy too - just leave it in neutral, pull the parking brake and take your foot off the brake then remove the key and get out of the car. when you close the drivers doors the car shuts down and arms itself.

I've read an article about interference of the FM system with amateur radio frequencies in the older models. This is not a problem with this newer version, right?

How is SS differs from FM? How much is SS anyway? Is it worth the extra costs to get the SS?

Have any of you consider the Clifford system? It looks very similar to the Compustar system

Mine cost me 600 installed...this is the SS BTW...its got a longer distance I think 1.25 miles or something like that, and works off of a different frequency than FM...

Compustar

Couple of notes,

Arcticstar is the exact same as compustar. They are built by the same offshore manufactuer but have different names.

Second is your car auto or standard

Third if it is Auto - Why Compustar?

Fourth are you in Edmonton, Calgary, or somewhere in between, Because I probably know 80% of the installers in this province so I can help you find someone

the Clifford Matrix RSIII is a great unit (i know beacuse I am the Clifford/Viper rep for Alberta), but will only work if you have an automatic

I'm actually not from any of those place but will be in and around Edmonton and Calgary for a week or so and I'll try to get the installation done then. If you can let me know a list of dealers that does good install of Compustar (yes, I do have a manual car)at reasonably cheap cost, I'd very much appreciate that.
