Dealer installed aftermarket parts?!

Hi All,

Would anyone here be interested in having a dealer install and warrent aftermarket parts? How about having the dealer install j-spec cams with out voiding your warrenty? How about lowering springs? I'm not sure what else they would be willing to cover but if anyone has ideas...

This leads to another thought. What parts would you like to see a dealer here in Edmonton stock? I told them that they would have to be able to sell to the public cheaper than I can online, otherwise it would be pointless for them to do so.

The reason I ask is I have a friend that works at a Mazda dealer here in Edmonton and we got to talking. They have done some modifications to a P5 and an ES. So far they have lowered both, done the intake and exhaust cams on the ES, installed the Mazda speed muffler (they still have one for the P5 in stock) on both and are waiting for a new intake for both. I believe the ES also has clear tail lights (they have these in stock I beleive) installed, and they also have a new from end and side skirts waiting to be painted for it.

These guys are interested in getting into the tuning/mod market. I have no personal gain in this at all, just want to let everyone with a Protege know that this dealer has somethings in mind.

If anyone wants to take a look at the P5 or the ES let me know and I will give you a name at the dealer to talk to. The P5 looks really good lowered. I drove it on the weekend and was surprised that the new springs didn't make the ride worse.

The Mazdaspeed muffler looks and sounds bad assed! A little loud for my taste, but if I were single and the only one that drove my car I'd have it installed for sure!

Hi Jay

I may be interested in the springs but I want to paint my calipers first. As you say I want to be really careful not to void my warranty. I really don't want to give Mazda any excuse not to fix something.

Cheers

If you're talking at dealer prices, then probably not. I have nothing against dealerships, but they usually charge a hella lot more! :(

Go talk to Jim at Jarman Mazda, and tell him that Jason sent you.

I'm just glad someone local is interested in carrying aftermarket parts for our cars.

I cautioned them that they would have to be competitive with online resellers.

With the cost of shipping and our exchange rate it is almost insane to order larger items from the states. Since the dealer can get the items at a lower price, they can still mark it up to make profit and you still might get a decent deal, at the very least you'd get a break on the shipping.

Just thought I'd let people know.

If they can give out good prices, then I'm all for it.

Hey, I am new to the forum. Seen this thread and thought sweet:blue:. Its about time that a dealer is willing to do this type of thing. Do you know if they have or can get the new sport auto tranny. Is that the mazda dealer off yellowhead?

Yup that's the dealer. I am pretty sure they do no have the new Automatic. As far as I know it hasn't shown up in Canada yet, I'm not even sure if we are getting it.

THANKS.

Call and ask to talk to Jim. 474-3458.

If you mean that you got your car from another dealer, I'm sure they would love to have your business.

If you mean you want them to install parts that you purchased somewhere else, I don't know how they will deal with that.

Talk to Jim, he will answer you questions.
