I think it's better off if we wait for the Alberta meet. Then we can decide. Just my opinion, though.

I am with Mike. Then we'll have more Calgary people to meet with. It'll be fun. And if I am correct from all the posts that I have read: They'll be a few people in RD that day! Pro's, Miatas, and maybe even RX7's...crazy...Talk about a blast!

Hey Mike, I was interested in getting a K&N filter too. Do you notice a difference? Serious no fool'in huh? Or is it just a bunch of marketing BS?

Pro_fan August-22nd-2002 05:59 PM

Hehehehe....

Well, my butt dyno tells me maybe....
What I've noticed is that in the higher revs (>4000 rpm), you can really hear a difference...almost like a whine/air being pulled in.
It feels a bit stronger, but going from one to the other isn't noticeable IMO.

BUT, I can't remember hearing it before, so I think it's a result of the filter.

Methinks mostly hype. I think it does allow air to flow more easily, but the major restriction is the stock intake...but hey, I still bought one. :D

With his hands out in front of him and in a zombie state, he purchases a CAI because his master deemed him too. LOL!!!

That's PR5owner no brownies for you! Hehe.

Hey Mike,

Did you have to disconnect your battery to lose the MAF info for the new filter? Just wondering as that is what we have to do with the Ractive ones. I doubt it, as it is the same volume of air in the pipes. Hmmm, interesting.

Can anyone head up a campaign to get 'Protegeclub.com' stickers? It would be cool to have them for the meet in Red Deer. Maybe they can say 'Protegeclub.com/Calgary/Edmonton/Alberta or something like that...I don't know just an idea.

Dion

There is a guy who has already made these. I have mine on order. The tread was posted in the for sale/wanted section. I'm also trying to get some black zoom zoom stickers since the dealer only has white.

Not sure about "having" to do it. Since there is (supposedly) more air flow, the ECU would have to adjust, and a reset would probably be best. However, I didn't do it, and it's fine. I've had it on for 2 months now, so I sure as hell hope that the ECU has adjusted by now.

Chris, I have some I'll give you. They are black too. They are around 1 inch high and 5 to 6 inches long. Well, you can decide when you get to the meet if you want them. I got them from the Northhill dealer when I bought my car.

skyhawk174 August-23rd-2002 01:16 PM

Wow, thanks very much Dion. I asked another dealer for some and I got two white ones but he had never seen black ones.

I already have a white one on my front windshield and I was planning on putting the black ones on the rocker panels at the rear. Not too obvious. I still may put it on the rear bumper so the driver behind me can see it as I zoom-zoom away :D.

Just look for my car at meet. My license plate is FE RING. It's a silver P5. With the sticker GOT HOCKEY? on the back. Got that? See you then!;)

Hmmm, are you an engineer by chance or does your plate stand for something else? If so, so am I but we really don't want to talk shop when we get there :).

the iron ring is known in the trade as a "brain blood flow restrictor". ei. as soon as you put it on, you get dumber. :D

skyhawk174 August-29th-2002 08:23 PM

It'll be great meeting you guys on the 7th in RD if you make it. Interesting how we all bought one of these P5s. Hmmm, what's up with that :D?

Funny thing about that ring, I have never taken off mine ever since I got it. Okay there are a few times when I play some racquet sports but it normally does not come off.

I had some Protegeclub decals made for my P5 and you will see them on Saturday. Are you interested in a set? They look like this

(Mazda logo) WWW.PROTEGECLUB.COM

About 1" high and 10" long in white.

I think I only paid $15 CDN for the pair.
