Beware Essential Speed!

All forum members--

Unless you are able to buy from this vendor directly--
at their outlet in Canada--be extremely careful ordering
ANYTHING from them over the net.

There have been a number of orders that have gone
unfilled from more than six weeks to more than four
months, or in the case of turbo kits, have arrived with
missing parts that still have not been replaced.

In addition, purchasers have seldom been able to talk
with ES owner Kevin Liphard to resolve issues of shipping
dates, tracking #s, varying stories re: the item, etc., etc.

When a response from ES has been forthcoming, it many
times has been empty with no followup or the response
has been different from the first answer.

Those who have paid through PayPal have had little or
no luck getting their money returned because most every
item ES sells seems to be a "custom" order and they don't
refund payments for "custom" orders.

If you buy from them through the net, use plastic even
though they don't like to do it. It's the onnly way to cover
yourself if the product isn't delivered within a reasonable
time! More than a month is not reasonable, in my book.

I have purchased Essential Speed products and have waited
more than six weeks for delivery, and then, only after
repeated calls to ES, did I get my items. I, too, heard a
variety of excuses as to delay in shipping.

The BBB in Cambridge, Ontario, has received complaints
on ES from a number of customers and more are heading
to the BBB at this writing.

This is unfortunate as ES products appear to be of excellent
quality, from what I have received. However, their treatment
of internet customers tops the **** list of many, including mine.
I will not order from them again.

CAVEAT EMPTOR if you do business with ES!

I agree. If their customer service was 50% what their quality of parts is, then we'd have a really good vendor for our Proteges. As it is, get ready to wait..and wait.
I ordered my CP racing strut tower brace form them and it took over two months to ship it to me....they didn't even make the damn thing, and it still took them 6-7 weeks to fabricate a bracket and send my brace to me.

It's kind of a bummer because Kevin and Karen really seem to be nice people. Maybe they need to hire a secretary or office manager or something.

shitty vendors are NOT welcome here. End of story. We're going to do our best to keep a lock down on who we can and can't trust here.

when speed.... is essential!
Sent from my iHosttech <http://www.ihosttech.com/> mailbox.

Hello thankyou for your honets inquiry..yes we had a over flow of
orders for our N/a products for the protege 5..soo many that we got way
behind I tried to sublet the work and got lots of lies and problems.
we have hired several new employees to help with the fabrication and
delivery times.
Although everything you read is only one side..example..we sold a hi-
flow fuel rail to a customer(delivery 4 weeks given)we called to tell
him it s was ready(in 1 week),and mentioned he had not yet payed his
shipping invoice....the finished product is still sitting here (over 3
weeks)
@ pohone calls..no return
So any ways we make everything custom, and its made to order..people
think we are like greddy and have everything on the shelf.
thankyou for your interest
kevin

that is too funny. I can understand being busy but their lack of contact and continuance to accept orders and money is just plain neglegent.

Kevin claims to not know whats going on with his fabricators. A good employee always knows whats going on with his shop.

I ordered a shorty header from Kevin and waited two months for it. I told him I wanted a refund after it didn't arrive after 60 days. I got the "We don't refund on custom orders" bit. I was going to go to my card issuer--I did NOT use PayPal for the reasons stated here and on other forums (no chargebacks allowed if item isn't delivered)--and get my money back.

Kevin called within a couple of days to say the header would be arriving shortly from Tennessee, transshipped to me by a customer who wrecked his car and wouldn't need the header, which was new in box.

When I installed and dynoed it, there was no increase in WHP or torque. ES had claimed increases in both. I managed to get Kevin on the phone shortly thereafter inquiring about an overbored TB--which was eventually delivered--and he had no answer as to dyno #s. A Canadian Mazda owner, the guinea pig for the prototype shorty, posted later on another forum that he thought ES had stopped making that header because he showed no gains after installation of the prototype. So, I got a product that essentially, as in Essential Speed, was fraudulantly presented, even though its quality was excellent and the fit was perfect.

A rather lengthy answer to your direct question. Do not do business with Essential Speed unless you're prepared to wait months for your order, if indeed, you get it then.

Most importantly, do not use PayPal with ES! You have no recourse!

money gone... also, company dissappeared

I'm not a protege owner but after waiting for a year without receiving my parts, I've been trying to track down Kevin and googled his name which brought me here.

So apparently his phone has been disconnected, website is down. Has the business gone under? I have over $850 worth of parts not delivered. I drive by his place occassionally and the shop is still there and stocked.

Anyone had ANY contact with ES recently? I'm interested in home phone numbers, home addresses, friends, family....

Will

nope, no'one has dealt with ES in about a year from here or other mazda forums. If they LOOK open I'd walk in with a cop and demand my parts.
