What does everyone think about a north american meet???

I am currently in the planning stages of organizing a MP3, Protege, MP5 and so on meet. I live in Ann Arbor Michigan and i would have all the events in the general area of Ann Arbor Detriot area. Im throwing this out to all of you to get an idea of how many people will go and what everyone would like to do .
i have connections with hotels and i can get some awesome deal. i am thinking of renting out a runnway at the local airport, i am thinking of an auto x, dyno runs, a banquet of some sort, a cruise, i have access to garages with lifts and we could do tuning or installations of parts, i am basically a walking roledex and i have connections with people somehow. just let me know whos interested and give me some other ideas of some more events... i will start planning i just need some final words.....

you can personally email me or just post...

when would be holding this when every body is available or just whenever??

protegedude January-28th-2002 09:13 PM

As long as the weather is warm, the sun is shining and there is no friggin snow,I'd go. It would be cool to do a car show or see a race or something like that. Any good campsites near by? That could be cool cruise all day, party all night.

A meet

Are you talking about maybe a mini Race Wars???:)

Hey! I'm in!

I just live across the border in Canada and I'd more than happy to attend any kind of gathering you could put together!:blue:

I have a question...Detroit is how long of the canada...

Shawn January-28th-2002 11:27 PM

umm, your question is worded poorly but I think I understand. Detroit is only separated from Windsor by the Detroit River. So if you know where Windsor is, then you need only cross a bridge or drive through a tunnel to get to Detroit. Windsor is on the south western tip of Ontario.

i mit go just let me know when and where...:D

ride to there???

If you make it in the summer, it would be the easiest time for everybody to meet up I think.
However Detroit is east coast as far as I know, and I live on the west coast, so I don't think I could make it that far.....

Anybody willing to organise one on the west coast?
When's the Corksport one?

and if I lived anywhere near Detroit, I'd be drooling over the possibility of that meet, sounds like tonsssss of fun if it happens

Sounds like a great idea and I am interested, hopefully it's in good weather.

Sorry, I've taken an oath to never return to Michigan ever again, especially Detroit! This has got to be the most godforsaken hell hole on the planet!. The city is disgusting, the people are rude, the weather is absolutely oppressive. uuggh! The only thing good about Detroit is their hockey team.

ZoomZoomH January-29th-2002 12:10 PM

Does this Carlisle meet have a place where we can AutoX our cars? I really want to put my car through the paces and see what it can do!

Summer's probably the best time to do it, for all you students as well as for us working folks.

As for the Detroit meet if the meet is not IN the city and in the surrounding suburb I might be interested. Don't feel like bothering with the city traffic.

What about Carlisle, PA meet? its May 3-5th (weekend) in Carlisle, PA

I would guess that 30 proteges will be there (thats a record ;)), and i'd even go as far to say that 50 will be there.....but i'm not sure since half the time when ppl say "i'm coming" they don't

ill start making calls and ill start my organizing, how does sometime in july sound??? i need some ideas of what else we can do i dont know if the renting of the runway will go its gonnacost around $1500. there is a drag strip about 15 min from ann arbor that we could go to. would everyone want a actuall banquet or to book it at a restraunt. there is basically any restraunt in ann arbor you name it weve got it.
Ann Arbor is probably one of the nicest cities ive ever been to. it is very laid back and diverse city and i love it. so it is not crummy or have tons of rude people. trust me im gonna make this something everyone is going to look back and say DAMN THAT WAS A GREAT TIME!!!!
help me out with more events.
how about a car show..... i could advertize all over the city..
also about prices, i think im gonna try and keep it b/w 10-30 dollars per car.. remember the more the people the less the price. im going to work on a contract or a registration for everyone to sign so i will know how many people will come.

Ditto to the guy who said Michigan, especially Detroit is a
godforsakenhellhole ;) but I'm from nearby Cleveland,
and I'd make the trip up if I were free that weekend.

Does anybody have any reservations about driving all these
imports directly into the heart of the American auto industry?
My in-laws are from Flint, so I make it to Michigan pretty often,
and I have observed that there are still some bitter feelings
about cars that aren't 'merkin made.
