September meet

Now that this meet is done we should start looking at a new time.
Suggestions?
Sept 5, 6, 7
12, 13, 14
19, 20, 21
26, 27, 28
I think that Friday's seem to work the best for everyone and it's usually not too busy everywhere. If we go later in the month a nice wooded drive (fall colors), like the August meet's would be good. If we really want to get crazy we could plan a Duluth or St. Croix valley run, but the roads will most likely be fairly crowded.
I'll look at some various options around here. The local A&W has car meets frequently and I can research some more roads around here. That's just an idea though.

Wow, you don't waste any time, do you? ;)

One of the middle weekends is better for me, probably. I'm starting apartment-hunting, and moving by the end of October, so the end of Sept might be kinda hectic.
Weird thought: Drive down 61 to Red Wing?

jlanger August-16th-2003 11:28 PM

I figured with fall coming we should get things planned out with school starting and the fall colors, it might be good to have a meet somewhere that has nice colors.

Kopp0041 August-17th-2003 10:23 AM

I like the idea of making a run along the river. Lets see what happens.

I'm going to try my best to make this one, I should even have my protege by then as long as I can afford the plane ticket to go pick it up :D

If you guys want to meet in Duluth, I can scope out some good roads. I know of a few and I'm sure I could find more. The one thing that I'd be afraid of up here is deer, especially in the fall since it's rudding season. I'd hate to see a Protege get all smashed up. =(

Mark_02DX August-17th-2003 04:22 PM

Duluth, eh? It's been a while since I've driven on Skyline Drive...Could be fun...

jlanger August-17th-2003 07:38 PM

Skyline, & bridges, or even the north shore drive would be pretty cool. But it's a pretty big thing, ie 3 hour drive there!

I wish I could have came out with the group. I drive a Blue Mp3 and am currently trying to find its production#. Any suggestions other than 1 800 222 5500? I dont like being on hold for fine minutes:D

Kopp0041 August-18th-2003 06:55 PM

I vote the 19th and/or the 20th. I like the idea of going down towards Red Wing the best. Been down there before and there are some cool roads. We should also plan a "movie night" find a good movie in theaters and see it. Finally, we have to go indoor karting this year.

Kopp0041 August-20th-2003 11:05 AM

I just signed up for the Racing Mazda Header group buy on the other board, If anyone's interested it sounds good to me, $340 shipped right now and maybe lower if 30 people sign up. Will fit MP3, P%s and sedans, 3rd gen. You will loose both cats, but you can always get a new highflow cat or use your old cat. No emission requirments here, so you don't have to.
I also signed up for the Auto show this weekend. Jeremy (the guy with the caviler) and myself are going, join us, it'll be cool.

bud_d August-20th-2003 05:06 PM

any idea on what kinda power gains this will make?

It sounds like 10-12 HP, but more with a wider exhaust and intake. By having this header and good exhaust with and intake, you'll have an open breather. There's another post about the install of this header on the other thread that has a lot of good information. Plus the group buy post is 11 pages with a lot of information.

bud_d August-20th-2003 09:44 PM

but with our current setup would we still need a high flow cat? I just dont wanna sound like a fart can honda

Ashram August-20th-2003 11:33 PM

Hey guys, I met some of you last weekend at Midway, I'm the one with the Blue MP3, the Mazdaspeed decal on the back window, and the bigger exhaust. Nice to see a lot more Mazda people around here than I thought! It's rare to see any at Midway, at least.

Hopefully I can make a meet whenever it's decided...I saw those pic's of the (mostly) Mazda lineup; that was pretty nice :)

Kopp0041 August-21st-2003 08:55 AM

It will work with our current setup. You don't need a high flow cat. You've got the Racing Beat designed muffler which is packed with sound deading material. Don't get me wrong, it will be louder, but is won't be a fart pipe sound. And if you do think it's too loud, you can always put a high flow cat on for $75-100, which will make it quiter.

Ashram: Great, glad to see you made it here. If your interested, some of us are meeting for dinner on Sat. and then going to the autoshow at the convension center. Check out the autoshow post in TCPC.

bud_d August-21st-2003 12:44 PM

would you be willing to assist me in installing it, Im very much not capable myself.

Kopp0041 August-21st-2003 12:58 PM

I sure could. If you get in on the group buy, we could do both our cars at the same time. Shouldn't be too hard, I've got the tools and Jeremy If we get stuck. Install is just removing a few bolts, and putting some new ones on.

Kopp0041 August-21st-2003 01:00 PM

bud_d August-21st-2003 01:05 PM

Hey Im on, how are we paying... pay pal?

Kopp0041 August-21st-2003 01:45 PM

They take what ever, you have to send an email to amelicharek@ucdavis.edu, he's the one setting the deal up include: your board name, first and last name, mailing address, payment method, and email address. I think they take any type of payment, Credit, paypal, money order. Just the guy the avobe info and he'll let us know when to pay, I think it is when the pieces are ready to ship, should be in a few weeks.

Sorry for hijacking the thread. :(

bud_d August-21st-2003 01:52 PM
