Paint/body shops?

Anyone know any really good paint / body shops in the upper midwest, prefferably MI, IN or IL?

Body Werks is known around here for their quality work. They will most likely be pretty expensive though.

well the front of my car got messed up today someone put their van in reverse and hit the gas and nailed me. about 2500 in damage, i'm looking to put a aftermarket bumper. they said i could just have to pay the extra out of pocket since the insurance wont' cover aftermarket, just cost of oe so it shouldn't be too much extra

Is it just the bumper that's damaged ????

What kind of aftermarker bumper are you looking to buy ?

protegeboy78 February-28th-2003 02:49 PM

the bumper cover is damaged the bumper itself is ok, my pasenger front fender is torn up , my pasenger mirror is messed up and there is some slight core support damage. oh and my right headliight is damaged and right corner light is totally gone. I want a bumper for the 97-98 cause i'm making my corner lights turn signals instead of putting my old ones back on.

Have you found a shop yet? Did you check out the link above?

due to the amount of damage and the fact that there is some frame damage i'm trying to stay close to home for repairs. if it was just the paint job like what i was orignally doing then i would consider that place.

So I am guessing that you'll get the paint job you wanted along with all the repairs.

more than likely, its a insurance deal so i'll probably get it done. my only thing is the front bumper cause i don't want to drive around like this for 2 months

Identity_X February-28th-2003 03:56 PM

Why 2 months? If insurance is going to cover it, don't you just take it to the shop of your choice. You've already gotten an estimate.

protegeboy78 February-28th-2003 03:59 PM

its the whole front bumper thing, the bumper i want is j-spec and so far i haven't found anyone that can get it sooner than 2 months from now. i'd be willing to get a different 97-98 bumper if i could find one i liked. It will only cost me about 40 dollars more to get the j-spec bumper than the regular bumper so i figure hey if i can find it then i'll put that on instead

i know one of the chicago guys in our club works in a shop in chicago area and he was the one i was hoping to find to do my paint and i would have loved to have him do this stuff too but i don't think i could drop my car off over there for a week plus i'm not sure AAA would cover an out of state repair shop

Identity_X February-28th-2003 04:05 PM

Oh, I see. If I were you, I'd wait for the J-spec regardless of how ghetto the car might look for the time being:D
