I have a few how-tos that I've written, but I know that at least one of them was "lost" from an unmentionable web site yesterday. Funny how things disappear like that from a database...

i wanted to do a 'how-to' on lowering your 3 with springs...
but i didnt have my camera on me..... i mite try to do it tomorow, cuz i have to take my front strut apart cuz i damaged the strut brace dealie when pulling the shock out.... |
I'm gonna do one on how-to change all 4 brake pads on the P5 here soon. It seems to be a popular request and just about everyone needs to get those changed sooner or later.

I could provide full text for the brake change job from memory.. I just did it again a few weeks ago myself. I did pads, rotors, brake lines, and fluid all at the same time. I didn't take pictures of the process though.

i don't think is a good idea to have tech articles together with how-to's
and the how-to's section should be restricted as to not get it filled with uselss posts. also, a subforum for the how-to's sections called REQUESTS, of how-to's not in the database... maybe i'm a newbe and nobody really cares....just a thought |
A requests subforum is a good idea! I haven't seen that anywhere before. If people don't mind not having pictures for some of them (though I have thousands of pics of my car.. I can find applicable ones I'm sure), I can write a bunch of how-tos.. at 83k miles, I've done a lot of general maintenance, and of course an excessive amount of mods :P

i think we should do a how-to anyways, perhaps next time when someone actually tries the how-to. he'll take pictures and could share them with us.
i know alot of shit too, little stuff like changing a oilpump, and water pump....simple stuff that people pass for granted but for some other could save them a buck or two. i used to write alot of how-tos on msprotege, maybe i can copy all of them and just post them here for all to see it could be a start |

I can do one on how to replace the fuel pump suction filter, complete with pictures. Only rub is it will have to wait until I am home due to the limitations of my current 'Net access. I have also replaced all my suspension (including the front/rear sway bars) but alas no pics as I was garageless at the time trying to get it done.

I can also tell how to replace the fuel filter on an '81 RX-7. Easy except for the fuel that runs down your arm. Whoops, wrong forum! |
Yeah I recall our fuel filter being "lifetime" but with crap winter blend gas and all the other things Mazda Japan didn't exactly plan for (re: my yet again rusting rear fenders), I'd rather be safe than stranded.

Since no one else mentioned it in this thread.. Alejo, you do know that there are separate how-to and tech article subforums of this forum, right? As of right now this main forum is for requests, but it'll be reorganized to make the actual how-tos easier to get to soon :) .. check the how-to subforum though, there's actually quite a few in there. I've only cleaned up the first page of it, so beware of pages 2 and 3, I give no warranties on their contents ;)
