Autox in San Diego

Where were you guys? Dave, Rod and all you other SD guys?

I hung out with Barry for bit, i did see a silver G3 w/Altezza's and an MP3 but never found the drivers....but i had to leave at 1:30pm.

It was a cool course, but an icy suface...made for nice drifting though :)

I had a problem with my steering through the slalom (which was VERY tight) it seemed as if i'd loose the power assist half way through a crank, then ok half way through going back, then hard as hell again.....and i now recall the same symtoms when my drivers side axle went out....i knew the passengers side outer boot was blown but this tells me the it really needs to be changed now.

Yes, i was going to put this in motorsports, but it only really applys to this region, so it's here.

I was there.. I showed up at 9am to register but then left.
Then came back at 1pm. I ran novice class so I didn't start
until the end of the day. I'll have pictures up tomorrow.

Darryl, what rpm were you at during the slalom. The protege's power steering is related directly to rpm, so at high rpm, it has very little power assist. This only really killed me once, while doing a slalom at about 6500-6800 in first gear. Builds your forearms quick though:)
well, it sure suprised me the first time as i came close to a cone...ACK! DAMN! WTF! phew thats over....

2nd gear, between 3000-35000rpm....i dunno really, didn't look :)it was a VERY HARD and pretty short braking zone from like 6700rpm.....

Just wondering what times everyone going to show up at the
Q on Nov 10th. I plan to be there at around 12:00pm to
reg/tech. I will be running the novice run. Maybe we all could
meet up at around that time.

I would get there a little earlier. They are pretty unhappy about how many people are showing up at events in San Diego (over 300, with 70+ Novices). So they are talking about shutting off entries at 250.

Good thing you have a number, as they aren't issuing new points numbers. So, if you don't have one, don't bother going unless you are just going to watch, because they won't let you run.

Why would it make them unhappy. Is it because you can't do any
free runs at the end or just too many people. Now if it is about
the people, I don't get it. I would rather have many people at
an autox than people racing there cars on the streets, killing
themselves because there is no place to get out the "need for
speed" feeling they have built inside(IMHO). Now if it cuz their are
too many novice people running. I thought after your 3rd or 4th
go at it. You have to go to the normal runs, which I plan to do.
Or am I just missing something here. ** scratches head **

Something like that. The last two events didn't end until 6:00pm (which is when they have to be quiet for the neighbors). With the sun going down earlier, and the time change, they worry about getting done in time.

I think they also want to have more runs to themselves. It's no fun to spend all day organizing and running the event for a bunch of people who just come and run (and often time don't work the course). Don't believe that...try it sometime.

well, since i work 2 and run 3, i'll be there pretty early, round 9:30/10am. but i'll have to leave pretty soon after i run. catch me if you can :)
