Safety First!
It is very important to us that you adhere to the guidelines we lay out for this drive. First and foremost, your safety is our concern. We've pulled information from various places to get the best points together for you to review. Please make sure that you read every word of this.

Prepping Your Car
Because these roads can be dangerous, we have a few pointers on what you should inspect on your car before attempting this drive.

Tire Pressure should be checked and tread at a good level. We would not recommend anyone driving these roads with bad/no tread

Brake fluid should be fresh and at the appropriate fluid level for safe operating conditions

Brake pads should be looked at closely. We'd recommend that you may want to consider changing them out with new ones if yours are already worn. These roads will be hard on the brakes since we'll be confronting an 1100 ft. Elevation change

Check your seatbelts for wear & tear and that they latch properly and engage in emergency situations
Driving Guidelines
It is very important that you maintain good common sense during this trip. These roads have caused numerous fatalities over the years. We do not want to take YOU home in a body bag. We liked to leave with all the people and cars in the same condition as they were when we arrived

NO TAILGATING!!!! We will establish what should be a safe distance and we'd like everyone to adhere to that if at all possible. This is not a track. There is no run off area. Maintaining a safe following distance will be crucial to everyone's safety!!!

Turn on your headlights

No Drifting. Please remember that there is oncoming traffic. A curve in the road limits your visibilty. So while the thrill of drifting around one of those corners may tempt you, please remember that there could very well be someone on the blindside of that coming right at you.

Follow the posted speed limits. Again, it's for your safety as well as others. Some of the turns will surprise you and there's a reason the posted speed limit is what it is.

NO PASSING! The entire stretch of road is a double yellow to the best of our knowledge. We will try to group you guys according to your driving abilities so that novice drivers do not get in the way of more experienced drivers. More info on that as we get closer to the date.

Videos of the drive are encouraged but with safety in mind. You must either have a passenger in the car with you or have the camera mounted inside the car. If we see the driver shooting video at the same time as we're driving in the group, you will be asked to drive alone without contact with the rest of us. Both hands should be on the wheel unless you are changing gears.
Other Issues
Cell phones do not work in the area. So with that in mind, please bring a hand held radio with you of some type. If you need suggestions on where to buy them, let us know. They're fairly inexpensive and handy for drives like this!
