Alabama SCCA Autocross Sunday 8/19

We've got the Atlanta Region night event the night before, but I"m seriously considering coming out to this one as well (my car...and driver...are both in serious need of some tuning).

Per the www.alscca.org website:

We normally try to follow this schedule for our events. Local conditions may alter this schedule.

7:00 Gates Open
7:30-9:00 Registration
8:00 to 9:00 Tech Inspections
9:00 Registration Closes
9:00-9:15 Devotional
9:15 Driver’s Meeting
9:45 Workers on Course
10:00 Start Timed Runs
5:00 Trophy Presentation
5:30 Clean Up

SOLO events are held at the Birmingham Race Course
1000 John Rogers Dr.
Birmingham, AL 35210

Not making any promises, but just figured I'd give some of you Birmingham locals (MATT! I'm callin you out. You'd BETTER be at this one!) a heads up :)

Checked the site and looks like it has been rescheduled?

aMaff August-15th-2007 12:01 PM

where'd you see that? I see a PDX rescheduled, but not the autocross. maybe I'm not looking in the right place...

If my new FB gets delivered in time I will happily bring it out however I work on sundays....gotta start having these on saturdays.

As the only jew at my store I get stuck with sundays.

If it's still on, then I'm there... I'll be taking pics and video, but not auto x'ing, as I haven't had the opportunity (read money) to upgrade some key parts on my embarrassingly stock P5

so? Run H-Stock. i'm still only like 75% sure that I'm going, or what I'll be driving (may take the Fizzle out for some lovin ;)). The miata has some brake issues I need to work out. And...I've gotta leave really early in the morning lol

sumo_Bob August-16th-2007 01:39 PM

I have the tires for it, but some suspension stuff will have to be replaced (overdue). Next time it comes into town, I will. I love whipping my p5 through the curvies.

aMaff August-16th-2007 04:20 PM

Next 2 are 9/9 and 9/23. I WILL be at least at one of them. Hopefully both. There aren't any atlanta region events that entire month

sumo_Bob August-17th-2007 01:28 PM

i may have to go to the one on the 23rd, and auto-x for my birthday

aMaff August-17th-2007 04:12 PM

I meant to ask, where did you see it had been cancelled?

Anyway, you going to come out? Look for either a blue P5, or a Black Miata (probably the latter)

Roddimus Prime August-17th-2007 05:00 PM

they have to start having these on saturdays or late sunday evening.

aMaff August-17th-2007 09:14 PM

Well, I'm out. I sheared a stud rotating my tires this evening, which means there's no way I'm going to pass tech. Suckin balls. Big, juicy balls.

Roddimus Prime August-17th-2007 11:22 PM

omg, why not just replace the stud? you don't have 10 minutes to spare?

Because in the rear of the miata you actually need to remove the entire spindle / wheel bearing assembly. I don't have the equipment or facilities to do it here at the appartment unfortunately. It's not as easy as hammering it out and killing a lug nut putting a new one in.

I'm heading to a shop first thing to see about getting it done. I hate having other ppl touching my car, but sometimes, when you live in an appartment, it's a necessity :(

Roddimus Prime August-18th-2007 12:44 AM

wha?!? drop the whole spindle for the wheel stud? that's odd. Oh well, best of luck.
