trim painting questions

Okay, I've got the door rests off, the center consol removed, and I've got the gauge cluster out. I don't know, however, how to remove the trim around the CD player or the door handles. I see the screws behind the door handles but once i have those out I still can't get the handles out.

Help me out if you can. Thanks

You may have to remove the door panel to get to that trim piece around the handle. If not, unscrew that screw, then pull the handle open and try to pull it out that way. If not, I think you're going to have to remove the panel. Don't worry, it's not very hard. There should be a removal guide somewhere on this board.

The door handles are attached to the actuator rods with a small clip. Get the screws out, then pull the handle like you are going to open the door - the handle & cup should come partway out of the opening.

Now, pull forward (toward the front of the door) on the whole assembly, and you'll see where the handle is attached to the actuator rod. You'll see a small clip that's fit over the rod where it bends up into the handle. Oddly enough, on one side of my car, they were black, and on the other side, they were tan. What you need to to is get a finger or a tool behind that clip, and pop it off the rod by pulling outward (on just the clip). These pics should help:

For the radio surround, you need to disconnect the HVAC cables under the dash before pulling the trim completely out. There's a little tab on the "post" on each side - squeeze the tab, and pull the cable ring off the post, then remove the cable from the clip. You should then be able to pull the trim out far enough to disconnect the wiring harnesses for the HVAC and the hazard switch - these parts are attachd to the trim, so they come out with it and need to be removed afterwards (a few screws - no big deal). Take note of the routing of the cables, so you can put it all back together properly. Here are the cable connections, passenger side first (don't mind the wires and twist tie in the second pic - that's my own stereo crap or something):

Hope these help.
