Dead Weight

Just an idea?

I read a few posts here and there about removing dead weight from the cars, Just thought it'd be a good idea to start a post where everyone can add their ideas, ie.
Item - Removal - Positive vs. Negative.

Floor Mats - Pull em out - Less weight vs. dirty/worn carpets. (not that i've done this, just an example)

wow...it all depends on how serious you want to get about it. My p5 is pretty stripped down. There is nothing in the rear. just the little carpeted mat. I've removed the AC system completely (about 65lbs), removed the rear seat belts, removed all of the underhood plastic and excess brackets, trimmed off metal corners, etc...

one of the best weight reduction mods you can do is to buy some 15-16" wheels that weigh in about 14lbs each and get a 7.5-8lb flywheel. That right there will make all the difference in the world.

^ agree - 7.5lb flywheel - check
plan on getting lightweight 16's (but i *plan* on alot of stuff)
soo...
AC - 65lbs vs no AC
Spare Tire - remove it - weight loss vs stuck on side of road.

I think that all depends on how reliable your friends are as far as the spare tire is concerned. I didn't have one handy when I needed it, but my buddy picked it up from my crib and dropped it off for me in a matter of 15 minutes, so it worked out for me hehe

i guess i'm just looking to set up a list (like the suggested mods) dedicated to weight reduction, with parts or groups of parts listed, and any pertenant info about removing it, so users could choose which or all of them to do themselves...
