OEM oil filter part number

I contacted Mazda Stuff.com to find out what the model number for the P5 oil filter was, and they said that it was the same as 99+ Proteges. The link he gave me for the filter is this http://www.mazdastuff.com/product.cfm?ProductID=701

It states that the oil filter is for 99+ Protege 1.8L ES. Is this the correct filter for the P5? The P5 is a 2.0 engine, so is a 1.8 oil filter the same?

I plan on buying about 6 filters, so it comes out to $33 bucks, $5.50 a filter (s/h included). My local dealer sells P5 filters for $6.50 apiece, not including tax.

Yes, the filters are the same. The 2.0L FSD engine in your car is almost identical to the 1.8L FPD engine in the 99-00 Pro. The 2.0L has a longer stroke (92mm vs. 85mm) and a different ignition system.

All Miatas take the same filter BTW.
