i'm wondering if anyone has a good way to get rid of salt stains without making marks on the carpet, my dad heard from his friend that vineger worked, so we tried it on my mom's car last year and boy did it smell of vinegar for a long time, but it did work, althought we ha to scrub alot and it shows on the carpets, i was thinking of really hot water, anyone have any other ideas?

 

There's some foamy carpet cleaner stuff that you can buy at canadian tire, i forget exactly wht its called, but just soak the salty crap with that and scrub the **** out of it. It takes a bit of time but it works.

 

I don't use the mats that came with the car. Instead I use a rubber mat and make sure to clean off the snow and crap from the bottom of my shoes before I get in. My passengers usually take the hint and do the same. I like to keep my car very clean.

But as for cleaing it off. I would try a carpet cleaner and a wet/dry vac or a bissel machine. Or you can take it into one of those car detailing places if you want to spend the money.

 

thanks for the answers, i don't use the car mats either, i bought those rubber winter mats, they work well but i got a few salt stains to the right of the gas pedal, where the rubber mat doesn't reach, but besides that everything else is pretty new looking, if you want to be really crazy you can do what we did with my mom's car, my dad works for mazda so he got a whole carpet because they made a mistake with the color for another car, so in the summer we take the whole carpet out and put the new one in, and then switch back in the fall, makes the car look like new again in the summer

 

I personaly lean to the car wash high pressure sprayers, always works on mine when i go cleaning.
