another show you may have or have not heard of!

CBS is setting up for yet another reality based show....and its called

THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES!!! yep...you heard me right....and this has got to be the dumbest thing yet.....

they are going to search out some backwards, uneducated family and move them into a mansion.....give them maids and buttlers and the whole nine yards....and let them live like this for a YEAR....following them around the whole time filming and the like...sorta like they do for the OSBORNES....

how frickin stupid....not to mention insulting to the general public...

Now that's a show I can support. I won't watch it but I love the fact that some hillbillies will be living large on the hog while society foots the bill. Hopefully some of them learn something from the experience and can make money out of it.

I hate these reality shows as well but if someone wants to display their life on TV then so be it. I don't find much time for TV between my PS2 and computer. Well I suppose football is an exception.

on a final note I hope Dueling Banjos is the theme song.

GO BUCS!!

Welcome to America!
Give us your Tired, Weak and Poor, and we'll exploit them - all for the pleasure of some fat-*** who can't be bothered to actually move off the Lazy-boy to experience reality...
But that's OK, there are profits to be made, and the ultra-rich network moguls will now spend their "hard-earned" $$$ to buy our economy out of recession.
So sit back, relax and and dutifully watch "the show" - if you keep complaining, Poindexter will be watching you!

And obviously people want to be 'exploited'. How many people auditioned for Survivor? How many people have lined up to be on Jerry Springer? Maybe I am naive and all those 'exploited' people had a gun to their head.

If you are so morally against these shows the best thing you can do is not watch, and don't buy the products advertised by them.

I don't think people want to be exploited; rather, a large number of folks are drawn to the allure of money without having to put forth any effort.

Nope, I've never seen ANY "reality" TV show, thus I can't evaluate the sponsors. But, I am very careful WHERE my cash goes - I don't buy environmentally unfriendly, overpackaged items. I purchase materials that can be recycled (and I actually take them to recycling centers). I do not eat meat, GM foods and do most of my shopping at Co-ops and Produce stands and generally buy organic or locally produced goods. I refuse to shop at Wal-Mart and do not buy items which are made in China or Israel. Further, I do not invest in companies which make weapons, use animal testing, or otherwise perform in ways in which I do not agree.
While only an individual, I use my power as a consumer to the fullest.
Incidentially, I seldom drink Canadian beer - LOL! (taste preference, not political statement)

Do you know what is going to happen...they are probably going to kill themselves right after...it be to much shock to them from moving to a plush pad for a year and then be thrown back into squaller....that is just pure evil.

I know a lot of you say you won't watch it, but here's what I think will happen.

You're flipping through the channels, and you see it on, and go, OH GOD, not that. Before you switch though, you stay on it for a minute. Before you know it, you'll really want to know what happens. Same thing happens with Jerry Springer. Same thing with eyeballing accidents on the freeway.

Then how are they being exploited? People have the choice, and if the allure of money is enough that they will 'degrade' themselves then I say OK. Who am I to say it is wrong?

Yet you judge the content of the shows with out having had first hand experience. Neat.

My, my, aren't we a bit defensive? You must find these "Reality-based" programs "entertaining"...
1st point: Exploitation doesn't always involve unwitting participants (that would be slavery). Truly, it involves preying upon one's weaknesses. To me this is sad, and I am able to make such a statement because I am entitled to my "opinions".

2nd point: While I seldom do watch TV, the constant media blitz promoting such programs reaches far beyond the confines of "the idiot box". I have seen promos, read articles, and, in fact, the issue is being discussed within this thread. The concept already nauseates me, why on earth then, would I need to actually waste my time attempting to "digest" this?

Your goal seems to be centered around picking apart my feelings on the matter. You should know that others do share my opinion (see Joe $$$ Thread), so while I am flattered by your attention, I am less- than-concerned with your argument. Perhaps you can try another avenue, and discuss the positive aspects of reality-based TV.

Hahaha
I would say the masses will rise up someday, but sadly I realize they're too busy watching TV or PS2.
Yep, eveyone exploits, but I think it's a matter of how kindly you do it. (like use extra K-Y and say "bend over, PLEASE")
