What to do with about $1,000

All in all I am expecting about $1,000 for christmas and am ready to start making a wish list. I already have an intake, so i don't have to worry about that. I'd like to get an exhaust, but I cannot justify spending $400+ on just a simple cat-back. So, just a muffler perhaps? And replace the catalytic converter with a straight-pipe (no emission testing here in Hickahoma). Then a Sparco shift ****, some pedals, red neon underbody, then the rest I don't know what to do with. Hypothetically, this is what I've spent so far:

Muffler - $100
Straigh-pipe - $30
Shift **** - $70
Pedals - $30
Neon - $200
-- That's $430.

So, what can I get with $570?

Because the car is new, if I get lowering springs, will I need new shocks or will the stock one suffice for a few months until I can save up some more?

What are some good speakers (oh, and what size speakers are in the P5? It's too cold right now to go out and get my owner's manual ) for $150 or less per pair? What about an amplifier to power these speakers?

I'm just shooting out random ideas....cmon guys I know y'all (there's that damn hick talk again) can help a buddy out

I have around $1,000 worth of extra $$ laying around as well. I will be using it to (A) Fix up my RX-7 (B) save it to pay off the Protege and get ready to trade it in for the RX-8

buy all on your favorite number on roulette, make sure that table place does not have maxium payout.

I hope you walk out with $570 x 36 (I think thats the payout if it lands on that number)

hope you have fun with whatever you plan to do to your car with that money.

Personally, I think a good cat-back is wirth the money. Take the $570 + $100 that you'd spend on the muffler. Get the Racing Beat cat-back for $430. That combined with removing the cat itself should be good for more power than just a muffler. You'll still have $230 left over to figure out what to do with. Or if you're really dead set against the cat-back, check out ebay for some wheels. $100 per wheel is not uncommon. Well, there's my 2 cents. Do with it what you will.

use it to pay down your car...i looked at the depreciation from when i bought mine and , the 0% financing is a good offer up front until you see the long term effects

I just think that that $430 could go to better things. That's a big chunk of money. If I had more like $2,000 or $3,000 than I'd get the Racing Beat cat-back.

Question...I can get a 2.5" crush-bent cat-back locally for about $80. My fear is that the crush-bends would cause more backpressure than stock and hurt performance... Suggestions?

If you want to lower you p5, the easiest way is to get some Eibach lowering springs, you can still use the stock shocks. I have been running on the Eibach springs for about 6 months and I have not seen a need to replace the stock shocks.
plus you don't sacrafice too much ride. I did it and it looks awsome.

I'd get the catback and take the rest and dump it into a decent stereo. Either that or put it towards some nice 17s. That's just me, though.

Which Eibachs do you have? The Pro-Kits or Sportlines? If I were to lower it, I'd aim for 1.5" - 2" lowering. But, there are some nasty bumps around here, so some faux coilovers (Arospeed, etc.) might be my best option.

Hey, it's a public forum. Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. I'm glad you think neons are gay. If everyone agreed on everything, wouldn't this world be so damn dull?

Just a waste of money IMO. But it's u're car. You posted a thread that asked for opinions so that's mine. Personally i'd save it towards a turbo for the car, or some nice rims than being cheap on every other part (muffler, straightpipe). It's better to get ONE nice mod than several cheap mods that do nothing for the car.
