Forum renovations. Please vote.
 

I'd like to express some of my opinion as well as know how my fellow forum buddies like the new layout of the site. I find the new layout excessively complex with the new various subcategories. I realized the forum has grown but such distinct categorization is not necessary as it impedes upon the member's ability to gain a further understanding of the Mazda Proteges in general. For example, when I now search about the Engine/Drivetrain mods of the Protege 5, I am restricted to 3rd Gen Info only, and discourages me from reading other stuff about other Proteges I may be curious of. So far, I think catergorizations prior to this change, were adequate and allow for a fair deal of roaming, And besides, we always have a search function if it is necessary to directly access very specific material. I would like a change back to the previous layout, I wonder what other members think. Thank you, and moderators and site owners, this is just my opinion, which I hope you will regard, please do not dismiss this post as I consider it to be very important, and so may others.

I agree with leungwingkei, BRING BACK THE OLD FORMAT. All this clicking is tedious and since i dont click on every topic i feel i might be missing some valuable info i normally would have found.

all you have to do is expand your search to the other forums on what ever subject it is...not to mention if you put in a very specific phrase or subject....you have the option to search the ENTIRE board and get every single post even if it was posted in the wrong forum.

there is also a flip side to your point....if you have a P-5...and that is turely your only interest...3rd Gens....why should you have to wade through all the information about all the other cars if that is not what you want to do? hence....the individual sections for Performance, Tech, etc.

I guess it's up to the moderators to decide what's best !

Your opinions are all important and welcomed. We spent a great deal of time trying to figure this out and come up with something that would work well for everyone. It was difficult just getting the moderators to agree on a new layout, so I didn't expect everyone to like it right away. That was why we decided not to out our own poll out ahead of time. It would never have gotten done if we tried to get agreement from over 1000 members. All we ask is that you give it a chance. I really do think there are some benefits to the new layout, as Sir Nuke mentioned. As the Forum continues to grow, which it has been very rapidly, the specialization will become even more important. It's inevitable that you will not be able to keep up with all the posts in one of the old general categories, so being able to go directly to two or three areas that you are most interested in should be helpful. Please do continue to give suggestions on things you feel would improve the Forum, but keep in mind how rapidly it's growing. It's a major job sorting through the old threads and moving them to the correct new section. If we had waited much longer it would have been impossible.

Im confused which engine do I pick? Oh yeah the 3rd Gen. But this is better than before. Kudos for the changes. Shame on you for not making this Dave-literate :)

I agree with the gentelmen, sometimes i feel like i am missing something. I like this set up though its fun this way, but the thing i dislike is all the meaningless replys eg ( cool, Damn) thats all

My philosophy for posting is not to post unless I have something worthwhile to say or if I have a question to ask. I think it's ridiculous to read some thread that i'm interested in that has 15 replies in a row by people saying 'me too' or 'cool' or 'yup' etc.

I just see those kind of posts as cheap ass ways to raise your post count. (Are you reading this you post-whores? I'm on to you!)

Sure my count isn't as high as some other people that post 92 times a day, but each one of my postings had more to say than just one word...

There's too many threads now to attempt going back and cleaning them up, but i'd like to make a request of the moderators and ALL the members to keep an eye on posts and police yourself. Before you hit the submit key, ask yourself, 'Is my reply contributing to the conversation, or am I posting something that doesn't REALLY need to be there...'

Oh yeah, I forgot I was going to post my comments on the new layout...

I'm not incredibly crazy about it, but I think that the change was probably necessary to facilitate our growing board.

I think that grouping by generation and then within each generation a variety of groups to help break it down more would have been better.

Doesn't really matter cuz like Sir Nuke said, if you're looking for something specific a search should bring it up no matter what section they wind up in.
