yay! 17.986

Last night at Brandenton Motorsports i ran my 99 ES on the strip at "Run what you Brung." Well i'm not proud to have done this but I beat a 2002 Neon ACR (yellow ugly thing) by a whole .2! wow!! I ran a 17.986 and he had a 18.1. That's not an accoplishment though. I also beat an Auto 2002 civic 2-door. That's what he gets for talking crap about my car.. haha he ran an 18.9. Woo i ran that once and that was with a clogged cat! hahaha.. anyway, Protege's def. aren't fast but leaving gettin on I-75 to head home my friend was following me with his 2000 Integra GS-R and i wanted to see just how well my car handles. So on the onramp that makes a complete 180 i decided to tell him to try and keep up... the speed sign says 30 m.p.h. and i was hoping they didn't mean it. Well i got up to 65 without a problem and hit 70 and felt it starting to slip. Luckly the ramp truned straight and off i was. My friend called me and said, "when they say 30 they mean 40." I was like whatever man.. "when they say 30 they meant 65 for the proteges." So although my car may be slow i'll take the integgy's and 'ludes around any corner any day!

Sweet kills. Me and my god-brother use to race all the time before he wrecked his 2000 neon. I always use to win. But now he has a 2002 Neon and has been talking trash ever since. We haven't had a chance to race yet since we're both in school, but now all I have to do is email him this post.

2002 Neon is a very easy kill. My brother has one and I can pass him by a whole car's length in 1st gear alone and he has no chance of catching up. We've raced several times with the same outcome everytime.

He used to own the 150 HP 2000 Neon which is probably faster than the Pro, but I've never seriously raced one so I wouldn't know for sure. Whatever you do, just don't EVER race the new 2003 Neon SRT4...

lol.. yea i would never be stupid enough to race an SRT4 Neon. Well at least not with my protege... Now maybe with my new SVT foci.. I know i would get my butt kicked but at least it wouldn't be pathetic :-)

if I get a tower strut bar, will i be able to take turns harder?

premdrumusr October-27th-2002 08:54 AM

Some people really believe that a strut tower bar does help to make the body more rigid... I call that one of those "go faster" parts... people fool themsleves into believing they work but i haven't seen any proof that they do. When I see proof the $200 strips of metal work.. then i might look at one. But its up to whether you want one or not.. i'm not here to tell you what to do.

HELL YEAH they work:D. My friend has a G2 protege and I have a G3. He has a strut tower bar and I don't. Every once in a while we go out cruisin and end up racing. We're usually neck and neck but when it comes to going on ramps he leaves me. (For any of you in the D.C. area test your strut tower bar on the exit to 395south from Pennsylvania Ave. ;) ) Well anywho, that ramp makes like a 300 degree turn and the speed limit is like 45mph. So we both hit the ramp and I'm kissing his bumper:cuddle: and were doing like 60-65. I'm thinking if I go any faster I'm going to spin out. Then he steps on the gas some more and I'm like DAAAAAMN . So I speed up to about 70 and scared shitless and he's still pulling away from me. At the end of the ramp (its kinda long) he's like 4-5 car lengths ahead. I was like WTF. When we finally stopped at our destination(Georgetown) he told me he could never do that until he got his strut) He sure did convince me it worked.
