Street Racing: Be Aware, or dont dare

Well, I will admit I have done my fair share of street racing, but its all organized, and safe to a certain extent. But I am going to share with everyone my friends story.

It was saturday night, he had just got his new eclipse (yes the eclipse gs i drove, mentioned in an earlier post) and we had been out cruising the interstate that night, and hanging out at the races. It was midnight and we all dropped by my house for a dew, and then they headed home. But on the way my friend in his eclipse was next to his best friend in his 94 cavalier at a stop light, they had both raced, but i guess they decided to do it again. They sat and revved at eachother like the beginning of any race. Neither of them checked their rear mirrors, nick the kid in the eclipse had a neon in the rear window so he couldnt see, and the other kid in the cavalier didnt either. If they would have looked they would have saw a cop in full uniform in his patrol car behind them. So they go on and rev up, the light turns green and they peel all the way through the intersection, and take it up to about 90mph before the cop turns on sirens and chases after them. The cop pulls over the cavalier, and nick in his eclipse flees and hides. Little did he know another cop was right on him.

So they both got ticketed and got court dates, as they are charged with numerous charges, from wreckless driving, excessive engine and tire noise, to fleeing arrest. Both are 16, and will probably end up loosing their licenses until they are 18 or 21, and get a very large fine.

So this shows, street racing really isnt worth it, but if you feel you need to, atleast be organized, and safe about it. And most important BE AWARE of your surroundings if you race!

Similiar thing happened to me and my friend and his Integra Type-R. We were at a car club and noone was doing anything, so we hopped in his car and started messing around on the road in front of the parking lot. We get up to a light and our friend with his camcorder hit me up on the nextel and told my boy to light em up, and said there were no cops around. The second the light turned green a cop started to pull up behind us, but noone let us know, so he smoked them and took off, and we hopped on the Thruway to try and get away, didn't work. But the cop just told us to go home, and he wouldn't give us a ticket. It was a pretty funny thing to see on tape though.
