raced a 4th gen prelude si and won
I was on my way home from filling up with gas when a white prelude pulled up next to me at the stoplight. His car had a halfway decent muffler.was lowered and had an intake. He started to rev his motor, so I said to myself what the hell, I'll give it a shot. When the light was green, we were off. Both of are cars were 5 speed. I took him off the line, and pulled away in first gear. When we both hit second, he pulled on me a little bit but never had enough to pass the protege. once third came around, he was at the driver side door, but thats all he had. I shut it down at 95 because I did not want to have a meeting with the police and the next light was red.

sounds similar to my encounter last week with a 90ish lude, only think is, he got spanked harder. I dont know the trim but i think if it was the si, he woulda destroyed me.

hhmm...you beat a 4th gen prelude SI? hhmm......very hard to believe. If this is the prelude I'm thinking about it is pushin 192 hp. Or I could be wrong.
yeahhhhhhh, i dunno bout that, the 4th gen si's do push like 190 hp, maybe you mean a 1st gen. thats all i can think about. other than that im gonna call bullshit.
4th gen si's are heavy and torqueless.
my friend has a prelude SH ... the VTEC thingy one... and I drove it ..
that bitch pullsssssss ... and for a heavy car.. yeah right .. the engine pulls that mutha right out the box. It skiped/chirped tires all the way through third .. I don't care what anyone says .. I can only see a turbo protege beating a N/A Prelude SH ... Bruce |

hey no problem. i thought it had 190 also at first. when i did my research on it, i found that there was three models. the s with 135, the si with 160 and the vtec with 195. I was surprised too. im just happy that the protege took the honda:)
yeah i didnt notice the prelude was so freaking heavy. but good win man.
bum bum bum..another one bites the dust
It's still hard to believe, since the Prelude SI still does a 1/4 mi in about 15.6 or so.
To add to that, the 1992 Prelude SI is actually about 2600 or so. www.edmunds.com |
I guess it is hard to believe. I did not think I would win at first, but I guess the pro has more power than I thought.
Maybe you got a jump on him and quicker on the gear changes. Was his an auto or stick? I guess it's hard to tell if it was just any one. Most people who lose races won't stop and tell you what they have under the hood because it just makes the winner have more bragging rights:D

I did get the jump on him at the light, but his shifting was about the same as mine. Maybe I was just lucky. Anyways a win is a win, you do not see people at the track say you shoudlnt have won becasue you got the better reaction time.
