Put eclipse in its place
 

The other day a 2nd gen Mitsu Eclipse was all tail-gating me for a block, all the way to the freeway entrance. I was like WTF is his guy's problem. It was the nastiest DSM ever it was a nasty orange color. It was complete stock except for the ugly paint job. It was an auto too.

When we get on the freeway, he pulls in the lane next to me. And slams the gas, I look over and was are you serious you wanna race me? I ignored him, and he kept speeding up and hitting the brake to wait for me to race me.

It was getting really annoying so, i got behind him and flashed my highbeam at him. Then i get back in the lane, we were rolling at around 60mph. On the third honk of the car, i downshift into 3rd and blew his doors off. By the time i was at about 100mph, that idiot was way behind. I slowed down to speed limit and this dumbass got mad and does his ricer fly-by. I just laught. Why do people alway challege me to races in crappy ass cars like this stock 420a eclipse. It fun putting ricers in there places. LOL

too funny. I had a similar story. a kid in a new V6 eclipse GTS tried piping me at a stop light the other day when I was in the womp. the light turns green and he jumps it, tires spinning and exhaust growling....I ease into first and stay within about 2 car lengths from him. When I shifted into second I was evenb with him and halfway through second was almost a full car length ahead. I was almost getting into third but there was another stop light. So even with a headstart those fat-ass tubs can't keep up.

good kill.... I smoked a Talon but not much. His front bumper was on my door jamb. I smoke a v6 '03 eclipse about 2-3 cars away. This is w/ my all motor.

Those eclipse weight a lot and handle like crap. I know, my roommate has a 95 gs. I've raced him but got my ass kicked, becuz he swapped in a 2.4L engine from a dodge Caravan instead of the 420a. And he also has everything stripped down, no interior, A/c, powersteering. If i switched by 18" wheel back for the 14"steelies, i might have a chance in beating him.

my friend has a new Soft top eclipse..not sure what motor...never asked...all I know is I don't even need to try that much to just kinda walk away from him, They are so sluggish and slow like...kinda sad really in stock form.

That ugly ass paint you are referring to wouldn't happen to be a orange w/black flakes in it would it? That's the "burnt Orange" color...it's super rare...just like DSMs that are blue. I can only count on one hand how many times I've seen a blue or burnt orange Eclipse/Talon in person.....anyway....nice kill. If it was a turbo...you would've gotten raped though....watch for the sleepers also!!

But...since we are on the "beating up on Eclipses" thread...I'll add this:
I was driving back to the house from base, following my gf. She was in the Civic and I was in the 5. So, some guy pulls up next to me and then cuts off my girl on the on ramp to the Hwy. Since I haven't really seen what this car is capable of, I decided to jump on the oppurtunity. The Eclipse was a 3rd gen, V6 Convt btw. Well, with a totally stock platform and and auto tranny, i managed to keep up (barely) and once he got bogged down in traffic, I got to show him the true beauty of why I like this car. Well, needless to say, my girl managed to keep up and pass me a few times (damn it you bastard AUTOMATIC!!)...but she's not as fearless as I am...so I kept on pushing this guy...it was funny. I didn't beat him straight away, but I managed to pick him apart by finding seams in traffic. It was fun. :evilgrin:

Ok...street racing is bad.

And I've decided to go the 2nd gen Rx-7 route instead of the 3rd gen FD....I'd like to actually beat up on the car & not worry about how the hell I'm going to get home...lol....that and I saw a Turbo II that I almost gratified myself on. *Thanks for the advice on that one also Matty*

ive beaten a 99 eclipse before with my stock 1st gen dx...i even smoked the tires...all he got was a chirp....he had stock too i could tell, but i still won heh heh...glad ive got a manual

Very nice kill just be glad it wasn't a turbo or the story would have been alot different.
