Protege5 vs Sunfire GTX

Has anyone ever raced their MP5 against a Sunfire?? Im interested in knowing how well it might do.
I have a stock manual tranny MP5 and might be putting it up against a Sunfire automatic that has a cocky driver, only mod on his so far that i know of is he put some Crappy Tire exhaust on it. Upgrades im considering doing before racing him are a short ram intake and changin the plugs an wires. Or would i be able to take him with a stock car?? all input is appreciated.

If its the new 2003 Sunfire, you'll lose. They have like a 2.4l or 2.5l with 150+hp.

The dealer gave me the 2003 Sunfire as a loener car when they were servicing my car. Man, can that car pick up and it was an auto.

Nah hes got the 2.2 liter DOHC engine in his as far as i know.

2.2L Ecotec, 140HP...

yup thats the engine. :) so what ya say?? could i take it? with or without some slight mods?

he might be able to beat you because of the psycological factor of that car.
everytime you look at it's styling makes you want to :barf:

those things are ugly!

If it's the 2.2L pushrod you'll win though. Race him through a road with turns, you'll walk from him easily.

I've beaten 2.2l 95-0? cavaliers and sunflowers before, but that was when they had the 115hp 2.2l. I'm not sure about the new ones with the eco-tec.

Don't worry Jasper. Race him w/o mods. Even if he wins, he is still driving one of the most unsafe, dogshit, bad-handling, wanker cars out there.

Remember Claude Akins:

"You know, there are a lot of reasons why your car won't run right. 'Made by GM' is a real good reason. In fact, here at AAMCO, 9 out of 10 cars we service are certified dogshit GM heaps."

Yes, Tom Slick, a "hork-worthy" car if there ever was one.

Saturn Ion, with 2.2 liter Ecotech AND 5-speed auto, only manages 0-60 in 10 sec. Same as automatic Protege, with ancient 2.0L and 4-speed auto. Yay, GM engineering!!!

Isn't Ecotec just a rename of the pushrod 2.2l to make it sound like its a new and better engine, like they did with the quad four, changing the name to twin cam??

Basically the same, but with electronic throttle, stricter emmissions controls, etc.
