Protege5 vs '91 Sentra SE-R

This is how it went down.....I had my wife and my brother in the car with me about 2 hours ago...and we come up to this light and I see these lights come speeding up to me....He gets right behind me and starts revving his engine...(its very dark outside so i couldnt see what it was at first)...So he stays behind me and I floor it and pull on him pretty bad...so we go to the next light and this time we're side by side...When the light turned green we both took off waiting for one of us to make the move...so I go ahead and make it first...I gun it and he does the same...we're together for a few moments then he slowly starts pulling on me...hes nearly 2 cars ahead of me when we're forced to slow down for the next light....we hit about 70mph during the showdown... Anywayz at the next light we pull are windows down and chat for a second....he immediately asks what I have, and i just told him a few things...then i ask if its an SE-R and he says yeah, he said he had intake and exhaust, and a rebuilt tranny...So he says, you have a clean ass ride take care of it and speeds off...my wife started laughing saying "you got beat by a sentra!" I was like whatever, "if your punk ass wasnt in the car OR my brother I would have probably been right next to him!" Well, im just surprised I was with him, i didnt think I could stay with those SE-R's. It was my first time racing that year model.

HOLD UP! Im looking at a picture of a '91 SE-R and thats not what i raced, it had to have been a '93 SE-R...more rounded out.

:D Yeah, you betta say you lost to a SE-R because I was about to put up the flag.

It must have been a '95 200SX SE-R if it was rounded.

'95-98

'90-'94correct if yr is a little off.

You really do under-estimate the power of the SE-R. That is the famous SR20 engine in that sucka. The older SE-Rs are faster than the new ones. 5speedP5 has a '92 SE-R and he runs around 14.6 in a 1/4mile and his car is fully stock.

:bat:BEWARE OF THE BAGDE:bat:

Trust me, i know how powerful those cars are...theres an older gold colored SE-R around here and he has beaten my friends B16 powered CRX! Now what I dont understand is how I kept up with that guy last night. I know he didnt have alot of mods done, besides the intake & exhaust. If it really was an SE-R then he must have sucked at racing it! I know my car isnt very very fast, but i have beaten quite a few cars with it. I have an Auto and I can beat my friends 5speed P5...and he has the simple intake & exhaust upgrade....especially during higher speeds, he cant keep up at all! (I love the cams) Anywayz...i respect the SE-R's..im just saying that particular one I raced sucked! Even though he got me....WITH 2 OTHER PEOPLE IN MY CAR!

Well I would say good kill, but...well...good keeping up with him:D
At first I thought your car was completely stock because I didn't read your sig.

You probably did a whole lot better than I would have.

14.6? I've heard of low 15s for stock SE-Rs, but not in the 14s.

Hey, not my car, but '5speedP5'.

He's in this club. Just have to find his name somewhere.

Yea, I know who he is... Taken from http://www.se-r.net/about/sentra_se-r/specs.html :

"Model Code: B13
Engine Code: SR20DE
Horse Power: 140 @ 6400rpm
Torque: 132 lb/ft @ 4800rpm
RPM limited at 7500rpm (200SX SE-R is limited to 7100rpm)
Displacement: 1998cc
Compression: 9.5:1
0-60mph: approx. 7.6 to 8.3 seconds (R&T,MT,C&D)
1/4mile: approx. 15.8 seconds (R&T,MT,C&D)
Weight distribution: 62/38
Brakes: 9.8" vented disks front 9.1" solid disks rear "

I know they're fast cars, but I've never heard of them running in the 14s without some mods, at least intake/exhaust. I was just wondering, that's all :)

Ryde _Or_Die December-5th-2002 11:41 PM

Ya I looked up the 92 SE-R and it said 16.2 in the 1/4 mile. I know they are quick and that engine has potential but in stock form they aren't too fast. By the way, the 93-94 showed the 15.8.

Cool. Cause I wanted to know what you were running too.

5SpeedP5 December-8th-2002 03:00 PM

lol redrims thanks for giving me props....

anyways good race! ive completely wasted my own p5 in my se-r (with a friend driving the p5).... so you got lucky....

the classic se-rs are slightly differentiated between 90-94, the 90-92 models have a shorter front bumper and diffrent grill, when the 93 (what i have) is the most preferable model with the better front end, various upgrades otherplaces, and still the better lowport engine. 94 came with the last year of the classic se-r, with a higher port engine and a lower 7k rpm redline... still producing the same times as the other models though.

if ya wanna talk se-rs im your man :D .... lol turbo se-r soon, Wanna race?
